Oh for heaven's sake! You are a lucky one and just doing what came naturally. It's great you saved your unit, something of eternal value. I went to the loo and while there, won an award. Someone else went forward on my behalf. All I missed was the thrill. No lives were endangered.

That's hilarious! Thank you for sharing this fun memory. I would think much of the training wasn't fun at all but you remembered this highlight when the call of nature turned out to be a call to duty!
Those weren't real grenades were they? How were the others kept safe?

Harry, what a great story and what a way to earn a medal. You might be the only one in the history of the U.S. Army to win one that way. Well written, well laid out. Plus, it is funny. It is always nice to see the humous side of the military. Like my time as a police officer, there were some seriously funny stuff.

What a fascinating story! I enjoyed reading this very much. Your style of writing is very descriptive and paints clear pictures in the mind of the reader. That's the kind of writing I most enjoy. My only suggestion might be to leave out commas when there is the word "and" between phrases or a series. Fewer commas makes for less distraction while reading. Good work and great story-telling. No excess words and just enough description and action to keep things flowing. Very enjoyable. MM

You do a really good job of telling an amusing story in the middle of a pretend battlefield. We drove through the Black Forest in the rain and it was one of the darkest places I've ever seen. Your title adds another element of fun to the story. I must admit the word "aggressing" was one I didn't know.
