Rachelle,
What an absolutely heartwarming tribute to your father. He certainly sounds like he was an outstanding father and person. I love these 2 lines:
The greatest words you ever spoke
Were "You are just like me."
And I'm certain he is still proud of you today.

Excellent entry for the "A poem about a Man contest".
It's the perfect poem for a dad. I know he would be proud. That's the wish for many daughters ... beautifully expressed.
Great picture

Yes, Elaine and I endeavoured to raise our kids that, I remember on of the fondest times, was when my elder was attending electives music lessons at Uni when only 15, I picked her up and drove her home, precious moments. We were in a stage musical called "Two from Galilee" for two years. Every concert they played in, I played in church on the platform with both girls, and on the road in our gospel band for three years, they are the best times for me as a dad, now, they do the same for their kids. Your dad showed you the love he had for you. No wonder you have a good self image. Blessings, thanks for sharing, Roy

It was never a chore. I'm a redhead, I'm sure tor your dad it wasn't for him either. although my girls were blonde.

Yes, you do still make him proud. What an extraordinary father he was, which in turn brings to light, how you became such a remarkable lady, my friend.
I hope this resonates with all who read about this remarkable man.
God bless,
Steve

This is a heartfelt tribute to your lovely father, whom you are very proud of for what he stood and believed in. It made a very smooth read, flowing well, with words unforced. It's moving and touched my core as I read through it. Your poem reminds me of my own daughter. Well done, dear, and good luck with the contest.

Hi Rachelle.
Sounds like you got all your dad's good qualities. He gave you good advice to stay with the piano. It is good that you took it.
Sorry for your loss. I think he is still proud of you.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day.

I got some of his less-stellar ones, too: We're both very stubborn (or, as my mother called us, "mule heads." hahahaha. And once we've had enough, there's no getting us back. We give people only one chance to be nice. If they opt out, it's over. No touch-backs.)
Thank you for this very soothing review and for the well-wishes for the contest. Both are totally appreciated. xoxox

Those traits you can work to change. Just think how people might give up on you if they only gave you one chance.
You’re welcome, Rachelle.

An absolutely delightful tribute to your father, Rachelle. Referring to the last line, I'm certain this poem would make him very, very proud; as would your accomplishments.
Excellent rhyme and meter, and the emotional content and affection shines through. I see it's already achieved "All Time Best" status, and deservedly so. Well done, and best of luck.

I'm sure your father is so proud of all you accomplished. He died much too young. But he was a great influence on you as you listed generosity, tenacity, and love of music. I recall from your book that he did nurture your love of music.
Best wishes in the contest!
