Wise words, Jesse. The worst thing that can happen to this country is what we allow to happen to ourselves. No party and no leader ought to have us turning against one another. It seems there is no dialogue anymore--just point and counterpoint and then a lot of silence as divisiveness erodes the American spirit. We can't wallow on "sides" of issues. We must get involved, stay involved, and do so in a civilized way. It was Lincoln who said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."
(Yes, it originates from the Bible, but for this purpose, I'd like to keep to the secular importance of that statement)
You say: "We are in this together, we are one in our cause for justice so please take heart, don't isolate."
I agree! Fathers have ceased talking to sons, neighbors to neighbors...and nothing good can come from such isolation!
If I do not agree with my neighbor, I am trying to listen to them...
On occasion, they will listen to me as well...
Fear of "others" is being harvested, and we can and must diminish that fear by reaching out and connecting in all the ways you've suggested!

Thanks, Karenina, for your six stars and thoughtful support. Using a quote from Lincoln is wise and thoughtful. "A House divided among itself cannot stand," says more about us today than it did all those days ago. Or, at least it seems that way. I appreciate you choosing a part of my essay to make your valid points heard and considered.
We must not turn against each other. We need to fight the good fight and stay strong. Fear of "Others" is rampant in this country.

Working together means being there for those of us who are isolating and depressed by what is happening in our country.

Jesse, I love it! You are 100% right. Trump has only being in power for 3 days and he is already doing everything he can to benefit the richest multimillionaire and 'literary' leaving his poor and illinform supporters, I feel bad for them.
I love the way Bishop Mariann Budde handled the sermon and pleat to trump and the rest in control of our future. She gives us hope to unite in the name of love and compassion for those marginalized by trump and his cabinet. She spoke for immigrants, LGBTQ+ community, and others.
I like how you made your post positive and kind.

I listened to a couple of speeches by Trump and he sounds like he has some positive plans for the future for the US to help them prosper and also to protect borders and support the Police. I sincerely hope he ends the war in Ukraine as he will meet with Putin and come to some agreement. I am hopeful Jesse, but I feel your concerns here, love Dolly x
