My God how could he do that to a small child? He could have spoken to him kindly and at least could have question the bully ...You are perfectly justified in your anger..

How funny that your son was embarrassed by your pregnancy Barbara, this must have been hard for you as you were celebrating the birth of your forthcoming child.
How wonderful that your little boy was ready to protect you like that, what a kind hearted soul he is.
You were brave to have four children and when I look back, I wished I'd had one more child.
I enjoyed reading about those early times with your beloved family Barbara, a lovely, endearing post, love Dolly x

This story reads like it's more about the incident at the football game than Greg's embarrassment to be seen with you. I understand he was trying to protect you; I just felt like one story overshadowed the other.
I saw a mother slap her little girl at the mall once, and I was ready to step between her and the child when my teenage daughter grabbed my arm and said, "You'll just make it worse for the girl at home." If I had it to do over again, I would have followed her to her car, gotten her license number, and called social services. But would it have been worse if the child was taken out of her home. These circumstances are unfortunate, and they haunt me as well.
It's normal for a kid to think like Greg did. My daughter once said to my husband and I, "You've only ever had sex twice, right?" We have two children.
I guess we'll hear about how Greg came around to accepting the pregnancy when Steven is born.

I am still enjoying your family background and all that went on with your boys. Especially being pregnant and dealing with stuff all alone. No sign of any spags, this time.

Kids of that age are always embarrassed about their mothers being pregnant - I remember being in the same situation when my mother was pregnant with her sixth. I was so embarrassed (at 12 years old, and I had a brother who was 14) because my mother was so old to be pregnant and "doing that!" She was 34!
(Your first sentence needs to be reworded to "When I was pregnant with Steven ... " for grammatical accuracy)

Thank you for understanding. Thank you for the catch. I have made the correction.

Oh my goodness! That poor child - what a terrible father to grow up with. I guess that is sort of what a military sergeant might do to one of his underlings - no room for compassion to raise tough men. I guess.
I find it funny that your son was embarrassed about you being pregnant.

My husband's family (two boys and two girls) were spaced like that. I guess that' what happens when Dad's in the Army. It's funny that Greg was embarrassed because you were pregnant. Kids that age are sensitive about anything. Quite a story about how he tried to protect you when you were ready to tackle the man who had backhanded his son. He was looking out for you after all. It must have been difficult for you with your husband being away so much. Take another look at your first sentence. Who's the one who's pregnant? judi

This was a very interesting story you have penned with Steven. I am glad Greg was there with you to stop you from saying something to the rude man. That could have been a bad scene for you, being pregnant. Some people are just mean and rude. That guy was one of them. I would have been upset also. love and blessings, Teri

Somehow, I ended up in your book, but I wanted to comment on this story. I am sure you were proud of your embarrassed son later after the horror of what you had seen faded a little. I think parents who did what that father did should be arrested and forced to take parenting classes.

I would forget I was pregnant. A group of us were in a Mexican restaurant, And I had gone to the bathroom, I came back to the table another way, and was trying to squeeze between some tables, which I used to able to do easily. I got stuck! My older sister was embarrassed. My husband was laughing. I yelled, get me out of here! He dislodged me. He asked why I did that, and I said I forgot I was pregnant with a huge tummy for a minute. He started laughing again. :-)
