I do not know why I was not notified of your post. I would have hated to miss this wonderful fiction story with the surprising ending. Very well written!

Thank you, Rebecca. I have missed a few notices also. The site is getting pretty busy I guess.

It makes me wonder if a species who builds nukes and blows everything up should be brought back. Have they learned anything, or will they do it again? Good luck in the contest.

This was okay. After reading it, the first thing I wanted to know was if there was a word limit, that prevent more showing than the telling and why so many jumps were taken. I see the contest is limited to only 700 words. With that in mind, I think you did a good job.

Thanks for your review and stars. Yes, I wanted to elaborate more, but I was at the limit. I had some reviewers not sure who the aliens were?

Funny you should post this when you did. I saw on the news that astronomers believe that there is life on Venus. Apparently they saw something like a light signal through the clouds. Sounds like they're jumping the gun to me.

Thanks for the review.

Marvelous ending. You did an excellent job and kept this reader in suspense. The story was done with skill and drama. Science fiction is not my bag, but you very well held my interest.

Overall this is an excellent story. The only things that confused me a little (but it has to be said SF is not my speciality) were first, the sudden transfer from the planet to the spaceship and second, why it was acceptable to enter the spaceship. Surely this wouldn't be able to tolerate the outside atmosphere?

Thanks, Katherine. The space station is actually us, the visitors are the aliens. They have the technology to enter. We are the doomed race, only two stem cells left. I was limited in copy by rules. So I hope I have'nt lost the contest. There's still time to vote. Thanks.

Haha! Ok, that was a fun read and a pleasantly surprising ending. The assumption is that the astronauts are present-time humans, and they could be, but the twist at the end has the reader question who's doing what. Reader likes being left in a question. I was hooked from the beginning, albeit the few giant leaps, like an alien ship being filled with men and women, the current crew figuring out the planet died from thermonuclear war, batteries (all human technology, as opposed to alien). But the ending tied it all together. Good work.

There is something out there, and one day we will find it, or they will find us. Can you imagine finding the DNA of Adam and Eve? I thought this story was excellent, it was original, and mysterious. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Thank Sandra, much appreciated.

What a clever piece about the space exploration. I like the fact they found dead alien mummies and planning to bring them back their stem cells to revive them. The names are interesting, too.

Such a precious ending! This was so imaginative and the last line was the most unexpected ever!
I very much appreciated the credibly written radio communications, and the spacecraft language. The whole scene was eerie - but the end brought in so much new meaning! Pretty up-lifting!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece!
