I have been away from fanstory for year and have just returned. So sorry to receive this news. Phyllis welcomed me and mentored me when I first joined and read and encouraged me through four books. May her family feel comfort, she will always be remembered.

So sorry for your loss. Your mother's poem shows she had a life full of adventure, sensations, experiences, and memories. She left good memories for you and your father. Thanks for posting this.

I had no idea she was in a tough place all these years. I thought of her as more than a fan status between us. I told her more than once I was jealous of how prolific a writer she was, and never wrote anything without a quality. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers...She has a piece of my heart. Blessings...

Katy, my condolences on such a difficult loss.
'stuck in her tower' - what a brave way to look at it. Was she a bit of a romantic?
And, no fitting a poem.
Your story to honor here is a fine piece of writing. There are two brave and talented women in your family.
God bless and my best,
Relda

Phyllis was so prolific in her writing. She had such a sense of humor. I truly enjoyed reading about penguins and their different activities. This last poem is priceless.

It is sad, but wonderful to see
Phyllis live again through her daughter.
Phyllis and I...were never close...but instead,
seemed to share a similar passion concerning
words. I review seldom. But still, Phyllis, just recently,
reviewed one of my poems.
"For Tori."
Her first line completely humbled me.
Reminded me, of all, of why, of le raison
d'etre. Le sin que non. (sp?) The...
je ne sais quoi.
Non, je ne parle pas francais.
Ich spreche deutsche.
Und Anglais.
Und alles das Phyllis denkt,
aber vielleicht nicht sprachen habe.
I should...have loved her more.
For she was quite, in her own way,
supportive of me.
I wish to give you my condolences,
and my most humble apologies.

I wish I had six stars to give, truly. Its my loss that I am one of the few that didn't know Phyllis. (My best friend has the same name and they sound a lot alike!) You seem to have inherited your mom's gift of writing as this is beautifully said.
May you find peace knowing she's just gone early to heaven, and you will see her again.
May God bless,
Tina

I think you did a great job filling us in with the struggles she was going through; we don't all get to realize what some people are going through when you interact with them on these websites. It can be a bit impersonal at times. But I am glad that Fanstory seems to have brightened up her life during a dark time. And that's great. We also don't always appreciate what an outlet this little website can provide for people dealing with health and mental issues. It can be their only connection, in some cases. Nobody loves you like your mom, and losing your mother is a tough thing. I lost my mother five years ago, and I still miss her. But you must believe in the Lord Jesus and the resurrection. estory

This is a beautiful ode to your mother. I'm very sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful person and a very skilled writer, very intelligent, witty, and kind. I had no idea that she was so sick. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. May the Lord bring you comfort and peace in your time of mourning. Bless you!
