Faded compassion

Well this is already about an issue that touches my heart! It's very well done, and seems to fit the diatelle format, which doesn't appear simple.
You've incorporated many factors into your poem, including the feelings of these immigrants (especially the children), how they're being treated, and how we as a nation helped create the need for them to escape their homes.
I liked the lines "our hearts dulled, remote and jaded," "Void of touch, hatred paraded," and "Lost in the distraction of lives shaded." Yes, we've cast shade on these people. Very effective words. Thank you.

You are most welcome. I hope you will have an opportunity to share this meaningful (and to some, controversial) poem beyond the confines of this website!

I've never thought of compassion as old fashioned but I do understand your meaning, having it means we understand the plight of others and show some caring. Your poem shows the stark reality of life here, love Dolly x

It seems kindness and compassion are fading. I pray for a gentler, patient world. All the best for the New Year Dolly,
