The blessings that we receive from our early years can never leave us. You know and tell it artfully, that you were doubly blessed. The poem is joyful and flows well because of the happiness it portrays. I would go back too in a New York minute.

Thank you so much. I am 62 years old I have my first grandchild, he is four months old. I want him to have the kind of childhood I had but I don?t even know if that?s possible anymore. And you are right, those blessings will never leave us.

What you emphasize most is how you played "from dawn till dusk" and had unlimited energy and then went to bed exhausted. It's this aspect of childhood that makes me want to go back, too. I also enjoyed your ABCB rhyming. Rod

Thank you! I remember taking baths in pairs when we were little (seven girls) and the water was filthy when we got out. My mother always said that meant we had a great day. We even turned that time into fun - diving contests with our dolls, for example!

I cannot imagine a house full of SEVEN girls. Thanks for sharing. Rod

Seven girls with very active imaginations. One of my sisters always wanted us to be a famous singing group, but of course none of us could carry a tune! She wanted us to be called the 7-UPS. We laugh about that still today.

You must have a world of tales to relate. Do you ever tell them in prose?

People have always told me to write a book. I don?t even know where to start!

Google HOW TO WRITE A MEMOIR. There are guidelines on-line.

Thanks! If you read my poem on here called The Wolf at the Door, you?ll see my adult life was not quite like my childhood.

I am glad you enjoyed it! It is completely nonfictional. I was lucky enough to have the best childhood possible. It probably would have had better detail if I had not seen it so late. I wrote it in about 30;minutes! Thank you.
