At my age, remembering childhood is tough!4 total reviews

This is a tribute to all who were the only child with no siblings. It's ironic how those who have no siblings think it would be better to have siblings and we who have siblings fantasize how heavenly it would be to be an only child. Hopefully, reading this will invite the reader to reflect with appreciation on many hours of their childhood. Well written.

Happy Thanksgiving and glad you liked my whine about being the only child. When my fiance' and I were going over our agreements for marriage, one thing I stressed was that if we were only Blessed with one, we would adopt at least one more - I did not want mine to be lonely. She, the youngest of three daughters, seemed reluctant, but agreed. We just spent Thanksgiving with our three daughters, and each has two. Life is good. The biggest question I have, if an only child is a girl, whose clothing would she "borrow"?

I think we all have mixed memories of our childhood. Lots of good times, maybe, and a few bad. We mostly remember the good. For every person, I am sure there were ups and downs, boredom and excitement; all the usual daily stuff, but in the end, here we are safe and sound. So here's to those parents that made it happen.

Thanks for your nice review. It is always nice to know somebody could relate to the story I wrote. For the parents who challenged us,wrapped in love, indeed, we are Blessed.

Childhood and only child interesting combination and you turned up quite all right without having the tantrums of a spoiled kid. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thank you. These prompts get us new poets to think deep about things we have not thought of much. I am often surprised at what comes out. Glad you liked it.

Dear Author, Thanks for sharing what it was like to be an only child. I bet there may be a few readers out there who 'enjoyed' a similar fate, I hope they are reading this entry and responding by the dozens!
I wanted to say this Poem was well crafted, particularly on such notice. I am so glad you responded to the prompt. You have enlarged my view of the world.

Thank you. Having watched three daughters enjoy their adventures together - and, stealing each other's clothes in the teenage years - gave me some reasons to regret being the only child and other reasons to give thanks. These prompts get us new poets to think deep about things we have not thought of much. I am often surprised at what comes out. Glad you liked it.
