Thank you! Am filled with images of "It's A Wonderful Life" as read your story. Think we all grapple with decisions. Puttin one foot in front of the other, becomes the mantra...

This is a poem of pure loneliness and despair. I person committing suicide unless someone stops him. I would guess a person planning
this would go to an abandoned bridge anyway where no one could stop
him/her.
Congrats on placing second in the contest
Have a nice day and keep writing

Such a sad ending because the amount of suicides off of Golden Gate Bridge is really astounding. Great story in the brief words and a call to the reader to care about people around them. Congratulations on the second place win, Harry!

When you decide to take that final leap it is too late to look for some one to care. the only person that might show up is a policeman to arrest you for breaking several laws. You can only find someone to care if you mingle with caring people.

This is a sad post about someone so desperate that they wanted to die, but if just one person cared they would not do it. A terrifying flash fiction, love Dolly x

A thought-provoking item, very well written. The dying sun may have been sinking, but it will rise again for a new dawn, just as a life can be renewed with hope, a fresh start, meeting new people who DO care, or even finding a new sense of purpose within... as perhaps the narrator on the bridge felt, when instinctively he realises to grasp the saving rail of the living when the wind blew.

Wow! This is so sad but definitely something we should all keep in mind. If someone had shown the speaker some caring and love in the preceding weeks, no doubt he would not even have been there on that bridge. It costs so little to reach out to others, and the reward can be so huge. Thank you for this great reminder. It is an excellently told story and so meaningful as well.

'Does anyone care?' if he dies? if he chooses to live? He would just like to know.
The pact with himself left an opening to change his mind. The fact that the near fatal moment came and went brought him to his senses enough to react subconsciously, automatically, and save himself. He still cares.
This is powerfully impactful and a great flash fiction concept, Harry.
