Yes this is a winner in my opinion.Cowboys are my hero's and their horses are too.In their day things didn't come easy they had to work hard for it every day.Kids look up to their favorite riders. I am grown and still look up and admire mine! Like Ty Murray, JBMoney, my favorite bull riders.

I love your story about old Charlie. I am so surprised that it is in the story category though as to me it sounds like a poem. It flows and rhymes so beautifully. A very poignant and well written tale. Take care. Jen.

I liked your story in a poem. I loved the imagery of the old codger sitting on the fence, yelling out about how things used to be. This was a timeless tale about change. Every dog has his day. Charlie Spence had his as well. Great poem story. Gretchen

Willie, this is a well-written story. There is certainly nothing wrong in my mind in writing a story in verse with rhymes. I did find it interesting that you have it listed as nonfiction. Excellent work. Terry.

Willie.
I enjoyed this story about the old rugged soul of Charlie atop his fence.
Quite a life he had doing cattle round-us and rodeo. Not an easy life for sure.
Besides the photo, your words painted a perfect picture of the man named Charlie and what he meant to others.
Nicely penned (sorry I am out of 6's).

A well told tale in rhyme. Charlie has had his share of bruises and bad luck, but it looks like he keeps on going. That he is so lovable says a lot about the man he is.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice writing. You have told a complete story in rhyme that sounds good and ends well. The artwork is perfect for the subject of your story. I enjoyed this unique writing.

You had a thought, caressed it thoroughly and began writing it from the start to the end about a hero named Charlie, not Brown, but an idol all the same. It's a shame there are no cowboys like Charlie or the Duke any longer.

We get to learn about the harsh life of rodeo and aging cowboys here that earn respect from their experiences. The occasional "country" lingo really adds to the feeling, and the image is perfect for this poem.

This is a warm and poignant story, well told.
You roped me in with Charlie.
