Sweet, sweet story and you took the reader right into the mind of a child. It was all done so effortlessly and before I knew it, the story was over. Congratulations on this win! Loren

Thank you, Loren. It was stiff competition because you were in this group right behind me! I was glad to see your wonderful story recognized, too. I value your good opinion of my work and honoring six stars. Thank you, again.
Sending you my best today,

This girl is so mature for an 8 year old. Although easily swayed like one too. She seems to be always thinking of others and so compassionate.
Congrats of placing first in the contest.

A delightfully told story, Sally, and one so easy to relate to, as a mother and for many, I suppose, as a child contemplating running away. You were a very thoughtful little girl, not only planning all you might need to take, but thinking of those you'd be leaving behind. I was very impressed. This is so well written, and totally believable. No wonder it was first choice of the contest committee. Congratulations on the prize and also, for staying. That was a wise decision. ;p

Congratulations on your well deserved win.
I daresay all children think of running away from home at some point or another. But this write just tugs at the heart strings.
What I enjoyed most is the focus on the actual event or non event. Just enough hints of backstory for readers to draw their own conclusions.
Brilliant.
Blessings, Julia

Cute story - well written to hold the interest. The "days of the week" underwear - I thought those were paper? At a non-profit I used to work, the traveling guys joked about those. Anyway - held my interest - sweet story.

Thank you for the excellent review and kind compliments. My days of the week underwear were fabric and had each day embroidered in a different color on each pair. I loved them. My mother?s sweet gift to me for Christmas. I am pleased you enjoyed my true story.
Always my best,
Sal :+)

It's my pleasure, Sal. I didn't mean for you to cry ... Though I know they are good, happy tears.
You write very well and I do enjoy reading your work.

Wow! All those day's of youth! I know, I considered it, at one point in my life--running away that is. Your Mom, or the one you imagined, did it just right! Thanks for centering me, on the pasts, that we always look at. Material seems to arise potentially from those sources! Cheers!

Sally your writing is superb on this story. I love your portrayal of the little girl battling with confusion and wondering what to do. The emotional angst of the mother comes through at the end when she grabs her tight. Nicely done and congrats on your win!!!

Well, I?m so glad you liked it so much. This is my own story and true as I remember in the details of that day. God has blessed me with a wonderful memory and a wise, loving mother who aborted my plans. Thank you for the sweet review and kind compliments.
