Yikes. This is so terrifying. It gives such a taste of "what if..." and how different everyone's lives would be. It's one thing to not know any better, but Veronica DOES know; that's what's so torturous! I'm sorry to keep repeating myself, Sandra, but this is spellbinding. No WONDER you won BoM so much!!! xo

Aww, thank you, Rachelle, I doubt you know it, but my staircase up to my bed is quite narrow, my head might stick half-way up, the size it's growing with all your wonderful praise. Sending you a humungous hug! :)) xxxx

Hahahah. You earned every word of my gushing! xo

Poor Veronica. It would be terrible to not have a clue what was going on. Reminds me of a TV show we watched called Quantum Leap. I can't remember why but the lead actor kept going back in time as someone he didn't know and he'd have to figure out what was going on. Sometimes he was a woman. =} Anyway, well done. Can't wait until the next chapter. Rox

We had that here, gosh, that's a few years ago, Rox! Thank you so much, my friend, for another lovely review. Next part coming either today, or tomorrow. :)) Big hugs!! Sandra. xxx

-This is a really good chapter, Sandra.
-Ver. has to be so careful around Mildred
because she doesn't know why Ver. is asking
so many questions, and doesn't know what is
happening in this altered time.
-You did a good job in showing Mildred's
frustration and anger when Ver. is talking
about the good powers, and Mildred
is talking about the Germans.
-You manage to add a little humor in the
beginning when Mildred is talking about
her mind: "I reckon mine took off long
ago and forgot t' come back."
-Then again, when Mildred mentions Ver.'s job:
"Of course! If I knew where the hell
I worked, that might be a possibility."
-Ver. pretending that her head was
still sore was a good move on her
part to ease Mildred's mind.
-The ending is excellent, and I
am anxious to know what is in the
paper, and how Ver. will deal with it.

Aw, Pam, thank you, my friend. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this part. It was quite a hard one to get right. There is a lot to sort out and each part leads into it. So, for you to say how much you liked it, is so very encouraging. Thank you so much for another of your pretty golden stars, and also for this wonderful review. Loads of big hugs, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xxxx

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Sandra. I am glad you found the review encouraging. It was a good chapter!

Hello Sandra,
At least, I think you're Sandra, but who knows,
perhaps in the new reality you are someone else,
like Margaret Thatcher, who never becomes PM. lol
The powers have sent Veronica here for a reason: the past must not be changed.
My guess is that it would be Mildred, unwittingly, treating all those patients and interacting with Tommy.
But Vice Admiral Pembrock could be the culprit, the one who may have had the power to change the course of the war.
So Veronica must go back and prevent those changes.
You've written this chapter very well. It is good to revisit Veronica and Mildred, one to one.
That is the heart of your trilogy.
Well done!!

LOL. Me? Margaret Thatcher? This lady is always turning, lol! You raise some excellent theories, Robert, and I do have to admit, you have been the cause of this lady turning a few times in this story. :)) All for the better, I hasten to add. Of course, Veronica has to do something, but she has a bit of a dilemma on her hands that she'd rather not have. Thank you so much for another lovely review, my friend, and a big hug for the golden array of lovely stars. :)) Sandra xxxx

I really enjoyed this read. The characters are "fun." I also like the history lesson thrown in the mix. Some suggestions below for your consideration:
"You've no idea how happy you've made me," I gasped elatedly.
When Mildred had regained her balance after I'd released her,"
Do you think it would be better to put this after thought in the previous paragraph? (You've no idea how happy you've made me," I gasped elatedly, and released her.) It seems tacked on and hanging.
Mildred seems to speak out of character (loses the accent) here:
"Why can't you use the one you have at work?"
Of course! If I knew where the hell I worked, that might be a possibility. I decided that if I asked Mildred where my office was, she might phone the nearest men in white coats and have me committed.
"Mmm, I suppose I could wait until I go back to the office," whenever and wherever that is, "but I just wanted to check out a couple of things on the internet before I go to bed."
"Like what?"
Again, a most enjoyable read! Thumbs up!

Thank you so much for your detailed review, WryWriter, and your helpful suggestions. I will go over that sentence of Mildred's again. I'm delighted you enjoyed this part, I'm about a third of the way through this novel so there is still a lot more coming. Thank you again, and Welcome, once more! :) Sandra xx

I am really enjoying Veronica, Mildred and Gladys stories! I'd like to know what changed so that we would all lose the war. And how Veronica a intends to change it back and put out pat and future right again. You have a good book here! I look forward to the next chapter!

This is a great continuation of Veronica and Mildred. I am glad you began to give some clarity. The befuddlement seemed to last a long time... both this chapter and the last one too... Very good story. It always keeps my interest.

Yes, things have been quite fuddled so far, but once Veronica has it really sussed, it's going to get really exciting, at least for me to write, I'm not sure how Veronica and Mildred will feel!! LOL. Thanks so much for this lovely review! Big hugs, my friend. Sandra . xxx

This is a great chapter, Sandra. I enjoyed reading it. The two women seem to be talking about different things. I didn't think about Mildred's answer to the 'power that be'. But it makes for a great story and future chapters. I am looking forward to reading the next chapter. I like history and often think what if the wars had turned out with different winners. You did a great job with the dialogue with this chapter. Everything flowed nicely with great info. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thank you so very much, Jan, for all those lovely stars, and fabulous review. I love history too, and enjoy delving into it for ideas and to check my facts out too. Even though this is a totally fictitious story, it still needs parts of it to be historically correct. I'm so pleased you like it, my friend. Big hugs! :)) Sandra xxx

Oh my.
I love this wrinkle. Of course, I'm not thrilled about the war being lost, but...
A great writing challenge to come up with an alternate timeline.
Looking forward to more,
patty

Thanks again, my friend, for another of your lovely reviews! I can't imagine what life would be like if we really had lost the war. So many things would have changed. Anyway, this is fiction and Veronica has to deal with it. Let's home she is up for it! lol. Thank you and big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

You obviously engage in a ton of research for this story, Sandra. This is something I really value in your writing because it teaches me facts along with giving me excellent fiction to enjoy.
Again, I'm here, breathlessly waiting for the next chapter to see how this develops.
Hugs,
Aki

Yes. it's strange, but even though it's a fictional story, if you use something that is factual, you really have to be careful. The next part will be later in the week. :)) Thank you so much, Aki, for your lovely review. I really appreciate you and your comments. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx
