Oh nooo! This is getting bleak. I like the way the quintessential question of us all, at one time or another, finds its way in: "Why was I here?" Sometimes that's the hardest question of all, especially in Veronica's current state of invisibility. ("It was so frustrating that I couldn't help in any way.")
Stunning chapter, Sandra. Exciting, chilling, and extremely well done. I felt in the moment every step of this chapter's journey. xo

Oh snap! That was an unexpected ending!! What happened to poor Gladys? I hope she gave her husband a good bit of grief before she died. :-)
The devastation from the bombings was heart wrenching to read. :-(

Thank you again, my wonderful friend, for another galaxy of shiny stars and the thumbs up for the bombing scene!! What happened to Gladys will be in the next part. Stay tuned, my friend. :)) Sandra xxxx

Your excellent writing had me right there with Veronica, and the personal touches, like finding the little boy, made the whole chapter even more realistic. So, poor Gladys is dead? Was it a bomb or the husband? I can't wait to find out!

Thank you so much, Alexis, for this really lovely review. I'm delighted you enjoyed it! :)) Now to find out the answer to your question, was it a bomb ... or was it her husband? Hmm. Thank you for the 6 golden stars, as well my friend. :) Big hugs, Sandra xxx

Hello Sandra,
My, my, a Zeppelin. It appears to be near the end of WWI.
Your descriptions here are very well done.
The dialect adds to the reality of the scenes.
The destruction and the chaos, and of course,
never before has war taken to the skies.
The war's end was also the time when women began to get the rights,
so this ties into the original chapters well
And now, a ghost (one of your specialties)
Veronica has not had much of a role so far,
the appearance of Gladys as a ghost is sad, but should be interesting
and a great little cliff-hanger ending.
Another great chapter, my friend
Robert

Veronica comes into her own, now. She will be doing what she does best and Mildred will be her 'tool' to say and do the things she can't. Gladys will also feature strongly now. Yep, where would I be without my ghosts? lol.
We are about half-way through WW1, and this is where we will find out what Veronica's assignment is. This is the hardest job she's had. Let's hope she is up to it!!
Thank you so much for the six stars, my friend, and your usual wonderful review. Big hugs. Sandra xxx

-This is quite a chapter, Sandra, with
everything that is going on during
the attack and after it, as well.
-You capture the panic and desperation
of the people very well.
-Identifying the lost little boy by name
emphasizes the emotional impact, but at
least Mildred is able to provide some comfort.
-It is only natural for Ver. to feel
frustrated that she is not able to help.
-Finally, the bombing stops, and
people try to sort out their lives.
-Luckily, Jimmy's sister comes for
him; we can only hope she finds their mother.
-The end is a shock as Ver. spots
Gladys, and Gladys isn't the only one
who wonders why it is that she can see Ver.!

Thank you so much, Pam, for another lovely review and for the shiny golden stars. I hoped the little boy, Jimmy, would bring in a bit of the individual human factor which is hard to do with a panicking crowd. In researching this time, it was terrifying to suddenly be bombed from the sky, which had never been heard of before. The silent killer of the First World War. Scary times. Thank you my dear friend. Big hugs, :)) Sandra xxxx

You are very welcome for the stars and review, Sandra. Including Jimmy did personalize the story.

I enjoyed reading your time travel stories through veronica and Mildred. How I wish more people can do that today to correct the ills of the modern society and correct some portions of past history that may have influenced the present state the modern man is in. Thanks for sharing.

It might come some time in the future. I'd love to be able to do it. Especially when we say or do something in the heat of the moment and wish we could take it back. I think we would have to go a very long way back to start putting all the ills of the world right, but I'm sure one day it will be possible to change what is happening around us today. Thank you, Susan, for your thoughtful review, I'm so pleased you like the story. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

LOL!! Sorry, she can't, Mildred has signed up for 10 life times. She can't break her contract now. LOL. Veronica will be asking lots of questions now she has met Gladys's ghost. :)) Thank you so much for another of your wonderful, funny reviews, my dear friend. You have started my day with a smile! Which is good seeing as I'm off to the dentist this afternoon. :( Biggest hugs and lots of love, my friend! :)) Sandra xxxxx
Just been speaking to Ian, he's not too bad, now he has his mobility scooter it has given him a bit more freedom. They still have to sort out the bone infection that is making them rubbery. I think that's what he said, the bones are bending when he puts any pressure on them. I've never heard of that before, but I can see it as it happens. Thank you my dear friend, for your continued prayers. I do believe they help. Love you loads. xxxxx
-
Your so welcome beautiful girl...you have a wonderful time at the dentist...LOL...I have never heard of rubbery bones either...but he is a fighter...I know he will do well...
and my bones aren't rubber...but when I get up now...it's like...snap...crackle...and pop....biggerest hugs back to you both...and so much love...xxooxo...Linda

You have just described my bones!! LOL, we could make a musical between us!! lol! :)) xx

Your story does what all good prose should do, and that is engage the imagination. The work does not need an image or a photograph to explain the work. However the surrealistic photo is perfect. Well done Don and Vicki.

Thank you so much for this lovely review, Don and Vicki. I'm glad you like the picture as it's the cover I've used for the tree books in the trilogy. I've just got to come up with the new title. Thanks again, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

I hope Glady's death wasn't to horrid after everything her husband put her through. Your story is well-written, very descriptive, the scenes, really came to life. Your characters seem relatable and your dialogue seems real.
