Shadows

This is really lovely. You've managed to get so much imagery into so few syllables. I love the idea of shadows stretching like a person does when waking. And congrats on the second place finish in the contest!

Hi Teresa
A very nice visual you've created here. I love the image. Vivid personification of "shadows". Somehow this poem makes me want to stretch in the sun. Of course I've just woken up and half-way through my coffee and the sun is definitely shining bright, not so cold today. I've enjoyed your alliteration in "shadows/stretching, sun" and the 'a', 'e', 'i' assonance combined with 'w', 't' consonance. This medley of poetic technique also arouses the audial ... and I can feel the stretch and the sun, thus a threesome of senses aroused. So much contained in your poem. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Hugs - Lovi oxoxo

I love your take on shadows.
I was biking yesterday, staying on the shadowy side of the road. They were so much longer than they'd been a month ago.
A sundial on the pavement.
thanks for sharing

Brief and yet it says
so much with so few
words. Definitely a
different way of looking
at shadows and light, very
enjoyable. Lora

Good imagery created with the image but could well stand alone, which is key.
The imagery created, light and darkness, in this case light is triumphant as it is enjoyed by the shadow's.
Good luck.
Have a good day, author.

OH, I like the imagery of this poem, Teresa. The personification of the shadows stretching in the new day, is just great. I hope it does well in the contest for you.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

This is a very creative poem and a perfect entry for the contest. It's so hard to say anything substantive in a 2-4-2 format, but you did that beautifully. This is like a mini nature Haiku. Really nice job, keep up the good work. Best of luck in the contest.

If only it were true. My children still don't know that the sun comes up gradually. I'm old and can't believe it comes up so late.

Yes, they do do that.
Sometimes they are longer than the object that makes them.
I like the sense of morning with 'wake' and the personification you give the shadows with 'stretching'.
Good luck in the contest, teresa.
