What a great story! Loved it. Your words painted great pictures of the scene as it unfolded. It kept my attention all the way through. The only thing I thought I should note is the use of "were". It should not be were but "We're" both going to die from Bird Flu. Great read.

Hi Elizabeth, thank you for your wonderful review. I was surprised to find I had a review, having been absent from the site for a few months site due to a move, then arrival of two grandbabies in May.
I appreciate your feedback, and catch. Thank you so much. I apologize for the delay in responding to your review.

This was fantastic reading. You provided great descriptive detail in both the scenes and the dialogue. I felt I was there watching and hearing. You maintain an ideal level of suspense which was heightened by your humor. It also carried a message that anything meaning animal or man deserves the right to continue life if possible- so that's a yes to cpr. Great writing, fantastic reading, good job, thanks.

Thank you so much, aryr, for your kind review of Laz the spaz, and helping me get it to the ever coveted 'All Time Best' status! One more review and it will have been worth the $30 in fake moolah to promote it 😂
I truly appreciate your indepth review and in sharing the same mindset on life.
Have a great week!

You are so welcome. It was so enjoyable. I actually did cpr on a cat once so I can relate to the internal turmoil.

Mary, this was an entertaining and extremely well written story. You effectively elicited a range of emotions from me. From amusement at the banter between your husband, to sadness over the misfortune that befell the duck, to release that you were able to "resurrect the duck."
I can completely understand your dismay when you weren't sure if the duck would survive.
Great job and good luck with the story of the month contest. You already have my vote.

Bill, thank you so much for this fantastic review, as well as your vote. I am honored and happy to have been nominated, but do appreciate your support, most definitely.
I truly loved reading your review. Thank you so very much.

You're quite welcome, Mary. I just realized my careless typo (meant relieved, not release). Guess it was the end of a long day. Good luck with the contest! Bill

Glad you saved Lazarus. (My dove vs. window incident didn't end well.) No doubt you love words, and humor. I suggest reducing the length of the intro or removing it. Could some descriptions and personal angst be expressed in the narrative itself? Sports-wise, I'm more like one of your relatives, but I don't relate to this phrase: pulling an "Elin" on my own tiger with the wood...
Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you for your review and 'good' rating on Lazarus.
The Elin/tiger reference eluded to Tiger Woods ex-wife taking a club to his Escalade as he tried to drive away following getting 'outed'.
Welcome to FS.

Thank you so much, Susanne, for your read, rating and review. I'm only sorry you didn't find it when it paying the big moolah! I'm so happy to hear your reaction. I get myself into the strangest situations sometimes, and this was definitely a wild one!
My parents both hailed from New England and my brother and sister in law are there now on vacation. The place holds a special place in my heart! Blessings to you!

You're very welcome and so talented a writer. Pleasure was mine to read it. Your parents must be in Boston or Cape Cod. Certainly, not in Springfield, MA where I live! lol God bless and hugs, Susanne

Haha, you are so kind. Mom hailed from Watertown, Dad from Portland, ME. They met on a train somewhere along the New England route...she broke her engagement to an Aussie Merchant Marine to date dad...whirlwind wartime love story.
I've written about their love story in my portfolio sometime when you are bored 🤗 good to meet you, Susanne!

Soon, I shall look that one up. Love a true love story. God bless and hugs, Susanne

You certainly have a way with words. When someone said that line to me I thought it was a cop-out to avoid hurting my feelings. I'm saying it to you as a compliment.
As usual (read consistently good) you've written a story that is thoroughly enjoyable. So many words, phrases and images stood out. And your sense of humor is there to add to the fun.
One of many great images, '. . . shook a few times in an Elvis Presley kind of way,'

Witty and clever story that struck home with me. I too was an athlete and then a coach all the way through HS and college. Great days that we former athletes tend to overstate. My wife played a little softball in her younger days and gets a little disgusted at my lurking competitiveness. I live in AZ and played courses with meandering ducks as targets!
Well done.

That was hilarious!!! I couldn't stop laughing...I had to re-read it. I loved your over-the-top descriptions of what could have been ordinary events and your self-directed humour! I haven't had a good laugh like that in a long time! Thank you!

Mary,
This was just hysterically funny. I was chuckling throughout the entire read. I wasn't sure the actual story would live up to the intro, because I thought that was funny too. I have to give you six stars. This was a day brightener!
My initial response was to tell you any mom who raised 4 children is an athlete in her own right, so quit being so negative on yourself, but after I read the main story, I though you were just lucky enough to be born under a bright star! I really enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing. FranichM

Possibly my greatest review ever! Thank you so very much, Franichm, for your RR&R, and your remarkable words. I've never thought of being born under a bright star, but I am going to embrace your thought on that. Thank you. And for that SIX!! Talk about a rare bird!!
