Congratulations [I know I am late] on a well deserved win. This is a great presentation--the artwork, the color scheme, and the well chosen words.

Thanks for including the video of the original. I like your words and 'take' as well as it.

Good job.

Wow, this is truly beautiful! I've always thought of "You are my Sunshine" as a song I sing to my children because I see them as my sunshine. I never imagined turning this song into the love song that you did. You are very talented.

Wow. I'm so pleased with your response. I toyed with humorous responses to this prompt then I decided I would try and write real lyrics. Thank you so much. I'm so encouraged. mikey

This is lovely, Michael :) Your song lyrics gave me chills. I love that you took this simple classic and turned it into a new song. I missed the instructions for this contest. Did you choose your own song or was this the song everyone was to change? Congratulations on the win! Truly deserving :)

This is so lovely, Michael! I couldn't help but singing it! :) This is a total complimentary to the original: the sparkle of the sunshine turns into the dim depth of the moonlight! Congratulations! Well deserved first place!

I'm so pleased you enjoyed this. I DID try several Ha, ha, ha parodies of a few songs, then I decided I would try and actually write real lyrics and see if I could do it. A little scary. :))
I'm a little shocked but delighted at the response. It seems I was born too late. (now there's a horrible thought!!!) mikey

Hello :)

Cool song for this contest. The rhyme and meter is great and well chosen words to change this old song. The presentation is very attractive. Good job!

I like the moonlight, angel kissed me and holding me close. Very well written and photo. Fun contest. Enjoy the moment in the moonlight! May this be blessed in the daylight! Very clever song! flylikeaneagle

What a terrific contest idea. I did Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell lyrics rewrite a year or so ago, and man that was difficult. I'd pick an easier song next time, or at least one I knew a helluva lot better. Getting the phrasing just right like you did does take some fiddling.

First off, love your presentation. Blue is the colour of true love and you always select such a perfect tone.

This is sooooooooo romantic and the lovely lady it is written for is one lucky woman indeed because you have a way with words and ease in getting your heart onto paper. Well, you know what I mean--about the paper that is.

You are my sunshine was the very first song I learned at age four. I got reminded not that long ago by my cousin how annoying I was when I'd sing the song at family dinner parties. She had always wanted to choke me back then. I mean who knew? LOL.

Anyway this is just beautiful and your lyrics are extremely complementary with the original song.

I wish you all the best in the contest.

Gloria

I read the first line and had it to the tune of 'You are my Sunshine' before I even looked at the author's notes. I think that means you did a fantastic job on the meter and rhythm for this piece, and your rhyme scheme was spot on. Good luck in the contest!

How cool. I'm so pleased. It was fun to take on something so iconic. I look at this as the answer. Some of us prefer the Moonlight, especially when we're older and look better in it! Ha! Thanks for the well wishes. We'll see. :))

mmmm... you had me at "moonlight" (which I completely prefer to sunlight) and lost me at "dark haired lady" (almost) grrrr

;)
One of my favorite songs, "You are my Sunshine" and this is lovely (with one important tweak) and wow... just lovely... truly so beautiful... whoever this is for
is one lucky lady. ;)

Back in the forties you'd be branded a harlot for such wildness or worse yet, a trollop!
I always envied "Dandys". I might have got a haircut if I thought I could possibly be considered a dandy....

Yes, but then we'd have to call you "Jim".

As it is... we'll just call you, "Samson"

Very nice rewording of this song. It was a pleasure to read. It brought back memories of hearing it as a child. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
