To me the point is the life cycle continues as you say in your author's notes. I see also the idea that with progress comes sacrifice and struggle.
This is well written.
Its rhythm and meter carries me along.
I like this very much.
The accompanying picture is a perfect match.

I remember standing by the edge of a fast flowing river in Scotland and watching the salmon leap, totally fascinating, Nature at her best. Your poem epitomises the essence of this phenomenon so well. Excellent rhyming and great illustration. Faye

Thank you Faye for this wonderful review. I guess God planted salmon everywhere. Just like wild flowers.
And know matter where they live their habits are the same. I always appreciate your fine comments.

And G'day to you too my dear friend. I love documentaries as well . They give us the ability to see the world in all it's beauty. Isn't technology wonderful.
Yes, the Salmon is a 'selfless' creature, willing to lose his own life to save others. Sounds a bit like the Lord, doesn't it?
Love to all of you, Carolyn

My son is up from Florida and he grilled us the most delicious, perfectly cooked salmon! I could have eaten it till I burst open...
Your poem was nicely done, telling of the salmon's plight.

Hi Carolyn,
What a nice little poem this is. I loved every word of it. I'm watching Dylan today and have to keep jumping up to see that he's okay as I try to get my messages answered.

Dylan left before I got this, so I didn't get to tell him you said "hi". His mom got off work and they went up to see her mom and his grandma in the hospital.

Thanks V,
I like salmon a lot. But, (I actually prefer catfish fried in cornmeal, with fried potatoes and slay LOL ). However, the resilience of their species has always interested me.

You describe the recurring salmon trail very well. It is indeed a circle of life. Nice coloring and artwork used to complement this poem Carolyn.
Kind regards

When you think about, this could apply to our own struggle to survive--the teen years, first job, etc. We leap upstream too even as we get older. I love your author notes.

Thanks Shari,
My leaps aren't quite as energetic as they use to be, but my purpose is just as firm. LOL. I'm glad you liked this one.

An excellent tribute to salmon and their dedication to the life cycle. I know they don't consciously do it, but they wouldn't survive if they didn't risk everything on that up stream trail. You creat vivid imagery with you well chosen words.
