" welcome" is a really cute 2-10-2 writing prompt entry. this is a whimsical reminder that if we're not careful, we can make people twice glad. Glad that we came, and glad that we left. I think you're telling us to be conscientious of our time, and our fellow man's. Best of luck with the contest. May God bless you.

I really the message of your poem. I especially liked the author's note. Your childhood home sounds just like mine... I still practice the warm welcome today that I grew up knowing. Thanks for sharing... absolutely perfect for the contest prompt with spot on syllable count, but the subject idea was excellent. A real contender in the contest.

A well known saying and nowadays it applies even more especially with the cost of food you hardly can feed your own.
My mother to this day says; "You are welcome to stay but after three days it becomes awful stinky around here."

My kids love spending sleepovers. They considered all their cousins worthy of their time, even just talking nonsense or talking about the same things over and over.

When we have our grandchildren here for a jammy party that is the way it is. Two of my sisters and I are going to spend a week together soon, I can hear us now... same things over and over... That's the way special memories are.
Thank you so much for your fine comments. daeneam...I am thrilled you enjoyed this.. :-)

Your poem is in excellent 2/10/2 syllable count for this contest
I like the way you work your way back to the original two syllable word
good alliteration in sit a spell
a fun greeting :-) Brooke

This meets the contest requirements nicely with a correct line and syllable count. Clever reversal which speaks to the annoyance of out staying a warm welcome. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Hi there and thanks for letting me know the poem meets the requirements. That is such a good feeling to know that a peer thinks that..:-)

Normally when I go visit someone, after an hour or so, I'm ready to leave again :) I make sure I don't overstay my welcome. This is well done.
Take care.
Christelle.

G'day Anon. I find it really hard to write a review on such a little piece, but from time to time one just leaps off the page and says so much, as this one does. Good luck in the contest. Cheers Fez
