Hi there
I read this days ago - days ago! Never got to review it, although went over it two or three times. I cannot emphasize how good this is! And so ORIGINAL. My immediate thought was a picture book! And that's another way of saying I wanted more!!!! Congratulations on this one, hope to see in in Poem of the Month.

Thank you, Marion, for your generous response to this poem :-) I haven't been nominated for poem of the month in over a year and a half, so I wouldn't hold your breath. Brooke :-)

I loved this poem! I never thought about what the book return box must look like to a child. You're so right, it is like a giant mouth eating up the books. So clever! The rhyming and rhythm in your poem are wonderful. I especially enjoyed the last stanza. I also loved the picture. What a wonderful keepsake to remember that first ever library book! This was a true pleasure to read. :)

In this one, your imagination soars beyond and above even its usual lofty heights. So glad Sawyer has books in his life...one of my dear mother's sweetest gifts to me was her love of books. Another great one, Brooke!

Hi,:-)Brooke,
This is an excellent children's poem expressing ideas that a five year old might have. It has excellent rhyme, meter and figurative language and imagery (munches on mountains)

Catherine, my granddaughter, give this poem two thumbs up. This sounds so much like what a child with an exceptional imagination would think about a library drop-off box. Thanks for sharing.

This is lovely Brooke :) I like the way the simple yet deep thought processes of a child are conveyed here (with such a complimentary photo of Sawyer - cute pic!) and the personification used to give effect. Lots of lovely imagery, excellent rhythm and rhyme, as always! Thanks for sharing :)
God bless,
love Christine

HAHA! This should be printed out and attached to the book drop, I think. Love the personification of the drop box, and all the wonderful examples you've chosen.
The pic is adorable. What a special moment!

Dear Brooke - this brought back memories of my kids doing the same thing.
I loved how you crafted this one, so light and fun, with characters kids would lap up. Just beautiful from beginning to end.
Thanks for sharing.

You have such an ability to see with the eyes of a child. The book drop, a magical portal where all those fantastic places traveled collide with a plop- pure magic, pure childhood. Babar probably would call for Tums.

Is the drop box in that picture wonky or the whole wall it's installed in?
Great use of onomatopoeia to make this fun and involving (I often wonder, what does onomatopoeia sound like?). As always, your flow is tremendous and your theme consistent. I loved this one, Brooke.
Mike :-)
