Congrats on placing in this contest. Your writing in this piece is especially artistic & full of graceful imagery for all the senses & nicely-conceived analogies. I wish I could say something more specific, but I'm not that good at commenting on poetry that's mostly symbolic. Good luck in your last semester of school! *smile*

This is really very good. I like the original subject you have chosen for this contest too. Yes, death can be a welcome relief for many suffering terrible and painful illnesses. I agree, death is not always sinister. You have created awesome imagery with this one. Excellent entry for this contest and I sincerely wish you all the best.

It is something not to be feared, respected YES, but not feared!

Death with dignity

You make striking use of imagery in your consideration of death as not always being sinister but as an angel in disguise, bringing relief from pain. Your description of death as the bloodless ballerina performing her deadly dance. The narrator seems fascinated with this vision. "Black cocoon" is excellent, and nice alliteration in "resplendent raven. Excellent thought and presentation, and best of luck in the ode contest. judi

Hi, Anupam. You're so welcome. A different point of view, but certainly thought-provoking. judi

You're welcome. I believe that many people who are enduring great pain and suffering would agree with the view of death that you present in your poem. judi

Hey Anupam,
You build a dark picture with this muse an her powers to wither blooms. Nice job developing her lithe form to the reader...I can see her evil grace, "...breathing death into life". Great line. Although, the stanza that begins, "When life itself becomes more terrible than hell..." would have to be my favorite because of its profound meaning. I found the ending to portray a hopeful feel to the write with its turn of events, and the revealing of the Muse's true endeavor...transporting souls to Heaven. Impressive, I enjoyed the detail and meaning you brought to the work, well done. Good luck in the contest, and best wishes, Bill

Hello Anupam Sharma,
Nice piece of Supernatural Poetry in the form of an Ode to Death beautifully depicting a unique theme!
Wording is impressive and perfectly matching the theme.
Smooth flow from the beginning to the end with its own rhythm and lively imagery.
The most striking lines are:
"Your mysticism
isn't always an omen,
for it relieves one
from earthly pain."
AND
"Oh, resplendent raven
you are an angel in disguise.
You carry over souls
to the hallowed Heaven."
Marvelous! Good Luck!

This is truly an ode to death. I am not sure it's a topic I want to embrace, but it is one we all need to deal with sooner or later. This is a beautifully rendered free verse studded with powerful, emotive imagery. You use alliteration regularly, and I think it works wonderfully here. I found your ability to eulogise so poignantly about death quite remarkable:
Your whispered refuge
offers a new world-
enlightened and enchanted
amid starlit cosmic space
