Cute idea. I can see the human emotion in this work - What a charming idea to say mar-in-law rather than mother-in-law. That is an excellent turn of phrase.

However, you could have created a few poetic elements in the work. For example, there is no alliteration, no assonance, and no concept of a profound nature. While this is pleasant and charming, it needs some elements of construction, and philosophy to merit a five

Thank you for reading and commenting, you are right about the poetic elements, a 5-7-5 Senryu doesn't leave a lot of room for expansion, especially if the contest rule says don't rhyme. I appreciate you candor. :-)
