Hi Mikey
Such a genuine tribute to our dearest Miss Evelyn ... a woman of courage, tenacity, hope, faith ... and an unbreakable spirit. You have captured the trials of her life, as if any one of these would be enough to make one embittered or vengeful .... our dear and beloved Evelyn suffered through them all and came out winning!! Congratulations on your equal first placing. Evelyn will have a huge smile on her face at this one. :))
Like you, I am in awe of Evelyn, yet her humility would not accept a super-hero status, she would probably say, she is just one woman who suffered amongst many who did, and she just wants to make it better or avoidable for those who may have gone down the same trail. There is a little more help now ... but not really enough, and many are feeling the pain and torture as I write...... helpless women and children .... I think the shame is sometimes more difficult for them to bear than the beatings ... as a society we need to judge less and walk our talk in support.
Evelyn "walked the walk" and now "walks her talk" ..... I hate to think of her being held back .... yet maybe God feels it is her time to rest and others to carry on the work closest to her heart. God will make the choice and Evelyn will follow His decision in peace and joy. Of course, we all wish her back with us, sharing her triumphs .... I do hope this is the most joyous of birthdays.
You have your heart on your sleeve, I love the concept you chose and the beautiful rose for your presentation. I just know Evelyn will love this, as all her tributes. I can't believe I missed this ..... thankfully, I can catch up in the multi-author book. So well done Mikey.
God sure does love this woman .... and so do we for sure!! Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

I am so behind and dis-organized. You are so correct in every word about Evelyn. I love seeing her picture in that hat. It makes me smile and say "Yes!" I am so pleased you liked my little piece. You make me smile and it doesn't seem to be going away! hugs back, mikey

Hi Mikey
I won't feel so bad that I'm behind and disorganised ... now I know I'm not the only one. lol
Those hats look like they were made for her .. I haven't even read the story of how the hat came about ...I do know someone bought the original for her. I'm pleased you're smiling .... I guess we must be "smiley friends" ... you always bring a smile to my face too .. and believe me that is some effort ... I can be such a sourpuss these days. :)))
I'm back for a little while .... there must be a zillion postings in my box to catch up on. :)) More hugs - Lovi xoxo

good luck in the contest
your words allow the reader to feel and see the strength that Evelyn had and your thoughts on how much will it take to break this woman
and her reply that none as God love and strength will take her through
cheers SC

Mikey, this gets my vote... what a wonderful poem for Evelyn. It's clear that you understand her, having read her story. I know that I would have been bitter, might have killed the bastard, but this Christian lady "walks the walk" like none other. Hope I'm still around to wish her a happy 100th bday! But I know that when her time comes to leave, she move upstairs willingly with big smile and heart filled with love. She's truly amazing, and your poem captures that... "what would it take" to break her unbreakable spirit, indeed!

I am in awe that some one can say so much with so few words. Very impressive. A very enjoyable read. Is there a song here? I can't help but think there is. Wish you the best of luck with contest. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much for being a part of the surprise gift of birthday greetings from her Fan Story family. She's not where a computer is at the moment so I'm able to get away with getting these pieces without her knowing ti. This is an awesome pome. She sure had enough to stop her but by the grace of God she marched on and has succeeded as God planned. God loves you and we do too.

Now I have the ending of All You Need Is Love in my head. Very strange ending. Ah, good. Very strange, Penny Lane. Better. Junior Walker and the All Stars, What Does it Take. Took Sax just to play that part. Very well. Carry on my wayward son.
