How unfortunate you've had experience with these soul-less creatures. I was born into a family of them and was married to another for twenty years ... I used to kick-arse in this department until one of them got me in the back.... I thought I must be a monster slayer. lol When they gang up .... oh it's too horrifying to even speak of the atrocities.

The question I ask is why do they pursue me??? Anyway I tired of the games they play .... they keep tempting me with their wickedness ... sometimes I wonder if I have let my life purpose down. Burying in the back yard sounds like a good idea .... shame it's against the law. Just don't go digging around my duckpond. This is not a confession. Great work as per usual. I hope you had a great Christmas ... Happy New Year. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxoox

Ooooh, this is so wicked. And, sadly, I think it is true that some entirely compassion. For me, Mom always said every person you meet is just like you a child of God and you should act like that giving respect and empathy. But I do see others that have NO concept of another's point of view.

No spag, great form. You're a recognized writer on FS, congratulations, that must be a great feeling.

Thanks for the Steinbeck quote, a new one to me, though I greatly admire his work. Great job with this. :) Carrie

YIKES!!!! YES, I DO HAVE A SOUL! This poem is deeply disturbed, Dean, buddy (LOL)! If this is not horror, I don't know what is! Good grief, you are a master of the genre!

And yes, I've know more than one I would have to question...how can we believe in good without believing in evil? (How can we believe in angels without believing in demons?)

I have looked into the eyes of madness - really - and barely escaped with my life - is that soullessness? Maybe, and maybe there is evil born pure, just as innocence is...

Dean,
I do know exactly what you are talking about and I call it psychological vampires. They have no souls so they try to suck others out of them. Destroy everything in their wake. Pretty fucking sad if you ask me. Sigh. This is awesome! (LOL YOUR poem, not them.)
Love,
Barbara

I remember what I used to call them ... energy vampires. My ex and I used to talk about them all the time. He is one. They are a little different than soul stealers but not by much.

At time I wonder if one of the individuals I had contact with during my Ph.D studies had no soul for he shared responsibility for problems I faced doing my stay here. My research crossed his pathway finding errors in his method of measuring RNA and he was the mortal enemy of the boss I had when I worked in the In the Indian Ocean Expedition. Not the most healthy environment to work further in my field of choice for my supervisor and the chairman of the department were his friends.

Ah ha, so you have encountered such an individual. I've encountered many along my journey through life, and one of them was my first wife!

Thanks for the review, my friend. Much obliged...

Actually, I guess I have been lucky. I have met a few people that I thought were hateful, several that were self centered, and a few that had a cruel streak that bore watching. I have met more than a few who cluelessly went aout their business with no care for the beings they shared space with. Still, in my sheltered world, sheer malevolent evil in human form remains the stuff of newspapers and horror tales. I know it exists, perhaps it is that I don't recognize when it brushes past.

That's probably a good thing, Cry. You know what they say? It takes one to know one...

Thanks for the fantastic review, my friend!

Oh yeah, baby, you KNOW they're out there, and Steinbeck's explanation probably works as well as any of them to explain the syndrome. I've never met a "card-carrying" PV, but have run into a couple of their brothers in training. We have some real characters in our town; guys like, Filthy Phil, One-Eyed Jack, Peg-leg Pete, Mother Bob, and a host of other old miners. Nice enough guys, (once you get to know them), however, you don't want to sit around the campfire drinking with them if they look hungry, lol. Great job with this morbid subject, Bill

Hah, thatnks, Bill. Sounds like a group of fellas I'd really enjoy being around, for a while anyhow. I'm sure they are a veritable well spring of inspiration for my particular genre, LOL/

    Thanks again, Bill!

This is interesting to say the least. I must live a sheltered life. I have never met someone I think is really evil. I hope I never do. There are very evil things in our world and I feel people cause them. You know who was really evil is Sweeney Todd. I want to keep my sheltered life.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend that, my friend. But, it is important to recognize such an individual should they happen to cross your path.

Much obliged for the great review!

John Steinbeck may have something there - horrific things happen and we wonder how some people can do the things they do - without conscience - and I guess without soul follows.
Interesting write.
