I'm not a fan of the supernatural, but your tiny tale is effective and you used the form perfectly. I liked your "undead king" description and use of the quote plus rhyme. Best wishes in the contest- Joan

This seems like it was a solid contest entry. Unfortunately, I believe the contest has passed now and so you didn't happen to win, but hey, the all time best award must make up for it. I enjoyed the classic take on the theme. Great work overall here, thanks for sharing.

Wow, thank you for the generous compliments. No, I didn't win, but that's okay. There were some strong entries, and even the site's horror master entered. I had fun writing a poem I wouldn't have attempted without the prompt. Fact is, I've only attempted the 5-7-5 form a couple of times so it was good practice. I appreciate the encouragement of your kind comments. Thank you for taking time to review. I am so happy you enjoyed it.

This is a good entry, the theme was really interesting. You follow the rules and explored the subject well. I liked the picture and the second line was my favourite, really liked that line.

A great 5-7-5!
I liked the humour of the approach to a traditionally dark topic and the duality of the decision on the last line.

Well this is a new twist on the Dracula theme. The writer when threatened by Dracula does not know whether to scream or Ohhh dream. First poem I've read where perhaps the writer might fancy Dracula. Amusing write. Good 5/7/5 and good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy

This is a contest winning entry, although I see it didn't. I like both the allusions to Bela Lugosi, my favorite vampire, and the image you chose to promote your poem. Nice.

So kind of you to say, Bill Scott. I don't win, but I had fun writing this poem anyway. I also like Bela Lugosi. He will remain the icon for the part forever, I think. And he didn't even show his fangs on screen. Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it.

Great piece. Funny but something sensuous about it. I like how you play with the form using dialogue and breaking up the last line. well done, mikey

Thank you, Mikey. The prompt said the haiku and senryu rules didn't apply so I took full advantage. I am so happy you enjoyed it and found it funny.

Your poem is in excellent 5/7/5 syllable count
I love your depiction of Dracula as night's cursed undead king and the humor in saying "vant" :-)
good internal rhyme in your final line

You hit the nail on the head with meeting the requirements of the contest, and with colorful choices of words, got your point across. Well done.
