Wow! This one is pretty spooky for sure. And the sound effects! Oh my! I thought I was being attacked by aliens. You surely did a fantastic job. This terrifying poem is top notch for its type. No wonder it won a bright blue ribbon. Congratulations and 6 stars to a very worthy writer. Warm regards, W ^-^

This is a very creepy poem. It is excellent for Halloween. The word choice is strong. The topic is appropriate. I love the picture.

Hearty congratulations on winning the contest, adorning your portfolio with three fine badges. I must also commend on the great layout of this poem to include the awesome haunting music bringing to mind another dimension of ghouls and vampires. Great work!

Dean, congratulations ... again ... and again ... on another fabulously well deserved win!
As for the concluding comment in the author notes ... YES! Way to go, sir! Love your little undercurrent messages. Quite powerful.
Have a super day, my friend. :)

p.s. The eyes are complaining ... I know, I know - nothing can be done about it - just a quick gripe!

Hah, thanks for such an encouraging review, Sonali. I added the author's notes after the contest because of the contest guidelines, I'm glad you caught that "undercurrent", LOL...
I know, the font turned out a bit smaller than I had intended it to. I'd hoped the white made it easy enough to read.
Thanks again for your wonderful review and the congrats!

Okay I'm scared now and Halloween is still a few days away, very eerie! I can absolutely see why your poem took first place, Congratulations!! You certainly nailed the theme! Indeed your writing is wonderful and flowed so well. The artwork and sounds compliment your work and make you feel as though your mind is truly taking a frightful tour.

Unbelievable1
You can still produce a creepy, horror (hang on a minute-lock the back door would you) poem ...in less than niney words creep me out AND win the contest.
Well done my friend.
A well deserved and super creepy poem.
Sorry I have no sixes.

Thanks tons, seken58, no sixes necessary, my friend. The fact that you enjoyed it is enough of a reward for me! Sincerely, I'm very grateful for such a wonderful review...
Comment from Gloria ....
Very well done in total Dean. The wind enhances the eeriness as does the backdrop art. How did you get that artwork in there? The poem reads smoothly, sometimes in pristine iambs and then sometimes not. The rhyme scheme works well to build suspense. If there's vampires there must also be vampire slayers. It's just part of the cycle.
The author notes are extremely useful as well. You not a fan of Zombies? ;-)
Congratulations on your contest win. I'd say you earned it.
Exceptional job.

Dean Kuch--Another signature write from the horror master
of Fanstory: historic/expanded researched author notes;
cautionary preface; graphic artwork and macabre theme
complement scribe's morbid imagery of quasi-dead/living
folkloric beings. Alliterations and rhyming phrases of
quatrains depict the crafty and fiendish nuances of this
infamous supernatural figure. Entertaining, timely and
the apparent winner of the contest. Please except my
belated, but heartfelt congrats.
