Wow my friend. That sure does meet the prompt. To have become engaged only to have your future so quickly taken away. I would ask God why as well.
thank you,
k

I must admit I breathed a sigh of relief when I read your biography. Until that moment I thought the poem may have been factual.
This is a well written poem with a story that tugs at the heart. It is well balanced and it rolls nicely off the tongue

Thank you so much for your lovely review, Bob. No,this one isn't factual. I was widowed when I was in my mid 30s, but our two young sons were my life line. I am now an active oldish lady!! :) Sandra

Why, Why. why.... all this questions we ask when evil strikes us and torment of hell inflict upon our fragile soul. You must have suffered much, and many others too. Well elaborated story of everyday experience. Well done and thanks for hard work.

The eternal state of sadness, a part and parcel of living, since the dawn of human feeling of the dark phase of life, instinct as gifted by God, the quest continues and will go on, put generalised in a nice conviction. 36/814

Boy, if sadness is the prompt you did a masterful job portraying that emotion. I was deeply touched by the piece and the subject matter. Well done and good luck in the contest, Ridley

Oh my goodness. I'm so glad it is a poem. As I read this, I thought you had experienced this and I was so sad and teary eyed. Thank God it wasn't you.

Aw, thank you, amahra, it wasn't me this time, but I did have the emotions to call on, my husband died when our sons were still very young, he never got to see them accomplish their dreams. Life can throw some terrible trials to overcome. But we did. Thank you again for your very lovely review. xsx Sandra

I hope this is just a poem you wrote and not reality. I know this sort of thing happens everyday. I lost my mother and brother ten years ago this week. So I know the pain all to well and the questions.

Oh, Jill, I am so sorry. To have lost both must have been so painful. My poem wasn't exactly true, my husband died very young and left me with our two young boys. They were my life-line, my reason to get up in the morning. So my poem changed a bit, but I brought my feelings out from my loss of Brian. Thank you so much for your kind review, and I sincerely hope my poem hasn't caused you more pain. Take care my dear friend. xsx Sandra

This is a very well written poem. From the first to the last word one cannot stop. But it is also very sad verse and many of us can relate.
Asking why - oh it is the same when you are ill - you don't get an answer. I think the best way is to say, it happened to me, there must be a reason for it, I'll try to do the best.
But it takes a long time until you can say this. However, after letting go, and stopping to look for a guilty one, it is usually getting better but the period of mourning is rather long and has to be!

Thank you so much, Ruth, you are so right. We will all deal with our loses differently, but we will hopefully all reach the same ending, accepting there was a reason. Thank you again! :) Sandra

This is a very well penned story poem that asks that question - Why? Your pacing through this poem was measured well, I thought, and it got to the conclusion quickly and with a meaningful poem as the result. Nice.
