I enjoyed your vilanelle with its repeats and rhymes. I particularly liked your "veil" and "shield" metaphors along with your alliteration of "h's" and "s's." Cheers- Joan

Silence can be a wonderful thing. I especially loved the
line "I feel that Heaven's almost near." I truly enjoyed
reading for you, Dear Amada.
Many Blessings,

Now I seek stillness without ever a need to veer.
Related, maybe, to the word melancholy, I don't race.
I like when silences embrace the veil of inner ear,
In its shield, I feel that Heaven's almost near.
I relate to this so much. When I forget and let the noise beat at me, the overwhelming pleasure when I turn it off and get the pleasure of silence. I think many pleople fear silence because they fear their thoughts. Blessings dear lady. Barbara

Hi Amada. I love the Villanelle form and this is quite nice. Great theme development and rhymes and the repeating lines don't sound forced. I am not too sure of the meter used but it sounds good. Excellent closing verse.
Blessings,
Maria C.

You've written a beautiful sounding villanelle. Love how you handled the rhymes. They sounds natural. Especially the last two lines are just ideal. Silence and poetry are best friends. I'm sure you know that. Wish I had a sixer. Superb! Les

Thank you Les for stopping by and for your Superb comment. All was worthwhile, this Villanelle took a lot of effort. Encouraged by a phrase by Richard Wilbur that says,in part "what is written without effort is in general read without pleasure." Again, thank you!

This makes me feel as if your anticipatin death, ready for life's troubles to slowly fade away. This is a great poem, but sad.

How much we need silence and quietness both outwardly and inwardly in this crazy world of busyness! A well written good reminder, extolling the benefits of quietness.
