This is lovely, perfect tranquillity and all is well.
Little children will be inspired by this poem to expect school to go well. As a rule of thumb if you want to maintain readers interest there will need to be an element of a problem introduced and resolved. So far you have done that with the question of "How will it be at school"
and "Will I be allowed to take that picture home?"
These are big deals to little children. It may not be enough for a whole book. Looking forward to seeing how you develop this. Excellent.

I am so pleased you liked this one, Christina, I wrote this one just before my granddaughter started school. I was pleased to see her come home with her painting, she said she was like Timmy and Tommy! I agree with what you say about an element of a problem as these do crop up all the time at school. I am trying to so this without frightening them. I thank you again for reading and reviewing my stories. xsx

This is a wonderful poem for children and about children. It reminds me so well of those years when we kids were small, running to and from the school bus. Wonderful reminder. Buenos dias!

Totally loved this! It is well written, humorous, and something I can relate to. Very creative, and entertaining as well. I think I'll read it to my kids! It was also written with good sense, I guess I'm trying to say that it was a great read, and many things like this can be corny, but it is not. I'd say witty. :)

sandramitchell,
What a delightful poem for children! I especially liked the mixture of "students" - mice, rat, frog, squirrel, mole. And the use of manners is very clear and an important grace for children to learn. it is bright and shiney, positive and fun, shows respect for each other and family. It is a marvelous book for children to enjoy and learn from.
Keep up this brilliant writing, please!

Thank you again, Linda! I have just released 'Lost in the Woods' I hope you would let me know about that one, childrens poems are quite hard, but I do love writing them. xsx

Very charming! Your verse is uncomplicated and comfortable to read aloud which, as a former teacher, I greatly appreciate. The last two lines of the third stanza seemed a little forced, but it didn't detract at all from the overall readability. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading more of your work.

A children's poem that can easily be illustrated and made into a book. Is that your intention? A yellow school bus would have made a good art piece to include.

Thank you for your very kind words, bellemarie, yes I am hopeful that my Hedgerow Capers will be good enough to be illustrated and turned into a childrens book. Its just that, hoping they are good enough! Thank you again for such a lovely review. xsx
