the world recovering from a poison blast - a great interpretation of the art's stark landscape. and then survivors gradually emerge to see the hope of the rainbow - you've written an entire futuristic cautionary tale here in one poem - excellent!

The world you present is a horror that only a sign from God, as the rainbow, could abate. Such terrible distruction a global disaster, be it man-made or natural, would cause the body and soul of man. "They lift their hopeless, war-torn heads" presents imagery of bleak magnatitude. This poem is certainly exceptional in every way. I wish I had six stars still available to me. Methinks there is stiff competition in this one my friend, including yours that I read yesterday if memory serves. Some very unique 'takes' on the picture I've had the pleasure to review so I think they'll have a hard time picking the winner out of this one. If I had 6's... you'd be the number one writer on this site- you deserve it too. Talent, lots of talent... I like the ending with the rainbow... it's exactly how I would picture it in my mind- you give that to the reader. The imagination and curiosity we all have to see what happens at the end... I am afraid your poetry predication of the future is too close for comfort. The artwork's rainbow gave me the image of hope in a hopeless world. The folks at FanArt have some fantastic work. This poem says to me that despite everything He will always show us the way. joan marie

Yep, this poem has a two-fold message; the first being that hope is never lost, even after the devastation of a nuclear holocaust. The second being that there is no truer saying (in my view) than survival of the fittest. It's those who survive who will re-build a brave, new world.
