This is a very entertaining story. I grew up with dogs-many dogs, as my father, the hunter, kept lots of beagles. Therefore cats were unknown to me until my daughter fell in love with 2 cats. Based on their behavior, I could envision your humorous cat stories.

But, Trump, DOGE. and cats? Yes, it's time for a nap.

I just love this!!!! I am not even sure why I love it; I just do. It feels like a chat with a close friend. I could see and hear the cats. Right at this time, my youngest daughter is visiting me; she has a cat named 'meow' --- there is originality for you. At any rate, I don't have cats, but this one is growing on me! Thanks for a great story. ann

excepts where the reader expects excerpts - can't decide if that a typo or a witticism!

Yes, I remember some of your earlier cat stories. They were great, but I'm pretty sure you could build an entertaining story around a pile of rocks. These two moggies are different, of course. I'm pretty sure none of your earlier felines had bed privileges.

I expect you are safely home in Connecticut by now. Maybe relaxed enough to go and join a Hands Off crowd. I knew this presidency would be awful but the scope and the speed of the awfulness still surprised me. I'm sure many Americans wake each day dreading what new horror will be revealed. Of course his tariff nonsense has gone global now, although we are still hoping to avoid the worst of the fallout down here. Didn't save us in "On the Beach" though. Just meant we were the last to succumb!

Glad you got in a few jabs at His Trumpiness here. Making fun of him is part of the resistance in a way. I've been following (by email) a rather foul-mouthed commentator called Jeff Tiedrich - he doesn't hold back.

Another entertaining read there. no surprise! Hope you'll be increasing the output again soon.

First of, I like the name Slingshot for a cat. It's great and different (-;
I also love the humor and sarcasm in your story. Even though there's no dialog and you "only" tell the story it's highly entertaining and it makes me want to continue reading it till the end.
I did find a tiny spelling mistake, I think: The Boy will probably perform selected excepts from Il Pagliacci in = should it say excerpts here? And I'm not an opera expert but I think it's just called Pagliacci, without the article (for the simple reason that the article is singular and the noun plural) but if I'm mistaken, I apologize.
Looking very much forward to reading more of your cat stories!

You seem perfectly normal to me. Cats train us well. perhaps they are aliens from another planet. They meant a lot the the Egyptians and they had the pyramids.:-) Karen

I really enjoyed reading your story! You've got a great way of sharing the unpredictability of life with cats. Your description of Julius and Miniver is so well done - I can almost hear Julius singing those operatic arias and feel Miniver's weight on your groin! Your sense of humor really shines through making this a delightful read. Keep up the great work!

Well, this was quite entertaining. I always thing of Gary Larsen and the Far side when people try to interpret an animal. We think they are expressing love and devotion. They could very well be telling us to F@*! Off. Very fun. Get some sleep. Gretchen
