Great entry, effectively bookended with your punchline. And you have the right word count. This looks like a pretty viable contender in the contest. Just a couple little grammar things:
His world had been turned on it's head <= should be: its head (possessive, not an abbreviation for "it is"),
Giving a feline hiss <= add a comma here, for clarity
had announced she was seeing another man. <= if this is a spat between cats, then this is inaccurate -- she is seeing another CAT -- but in order to avoid giving away your punchline, try: "had announced she was seeing SOMEONE ELSE"

Very nice. The use of the photo helps to deceive the readers. I am assuming Ginger is the cat and Fred is a dog. I think the FanStory members will enjoy this flash and the pet loving twist.

Thanks for your review. I was actually thinking two male cats. This is based on true events playing out in my house right now.
