I'm still not reading much, maybe a few of those who post really short pieces, since I read in about 15 minutes intervals. I got a kick out of this, being a kid at heart. And of course my wayward imagination doesn't always see what you're saying, like "Hank grunted and splashed a little deeper into his puddle." Thanks for sharing.

I've missed you and your smile, but especially your big heart and kind words. I always know I can count on you to lift my spirits. So many are leaving FanStory and it's sad. I hope you begin to feel better soon because I can't wait for you to come out to play. Take care and I think of you often.
    Hugs, Carol

I've thought about leaving Fanstory for the last couple of years now myself. But I'd miss you and a few others terribly. Now I'm just hoping I can get back playing more. Hugs back at ya! Ric

This is a cute story that should appeal to boys and girls. Hank loved his mud, but his friends thought he would never have a girl friend if he was always muddy. Penelope loved being clean and dressed to dance, but that mud did look like fun. She wasn't afraid to try it out herself, and she did like it. Good story idea because quite a few kids are afraid to try things, and this is encouraging without it being a dangerous thing to try.

One day hopefully everyone will realize that aside from the fact that one has an innie and one has an outie, they are the same. They can do the same things,They can like the same things. And, on the other hand we can also be completely different. Ain't life grand? Good story. Karen

Carol,

You write the best stories. This one is really cute with the girl hippo playing in the mud with Hank. It's love at first sight. No one can deny it, even his friends were surprised.

Well done my friend

Cecilia

This is a cute hippo love story. Kids would like this, especially all the mud play. They'd also like that Larry can burp the alphabet -- a fun detail. I like that Penelope is not afraid to get her tutu muddy. Hugs & smiles. Carol

A little romance! Everyone needs a bit of love, including a young hippo. I am pleased he found a girlfriend to keep him company. The others were friends but he needed one of his own kind. Lovely story.

I read this cute and quaint little story to my wife, She observed, it was like a lot of the stories in our childhood, but adaptable to the characters of the kids that we once played with. Beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

This made me smile big time, Carol.
I was caught out by not 2 choice ending, but in some ways, I preferred that.
It meant I could enjoy the story in the way you felt it was best.
I enjoy both types, I guess.

lol How cute was that?! Hank should never speak for a woman. Even one in a pink tutu. Had a smile all the way through this one. Well done as always, Carol.

Aww, that was lovely. Some humans like to wallow in mud, so I'm not surprised that Penelope liked it. Hippos' do like the mud. And it's good for their complexion. (and ours, apparently.) H was a goodie, my friend. I really enjoyed it. Well done! Love and hugs, Sandra xx
