Thank you for sharing your personal story. It certainly sounds like you have a lot to share and I believe it is important to get it out. I am sorry that you were surrounded by physical abuse as a child. I think it is important that your story gets told and I am glad you overcame your anxiety around the possibility of making your father look bad. The child inside us wants to believe our parents are God-like and perfect. You are not making your father look bad. You are simply speaking your truth - the truth. We are all in some way the collateral damage of generational trauma. Your father was this way inclined for a reason I'm sure but that is no excuse. There is intent behind abuse and he was wrong to do what he did. It doesn't mean he was 'all bad'. He made bad decisions that had big consequences for you and others. Your story is valid and worth sharing.

Thank you so much.

I would say the program worked. I am sure Marilu told you that your stories do not have to be perfect. We write sometimes because, we simply need to. Sometimes we write to pass along information and help others. Some we write stories that disguise our problems we need to deal with. And sometimes we write for fun. You wrote a moving story, and did a good job. Be proud. Karen

You have quite a poignant story to tell with a powerful message to share. The details of your experiences are clearly and honestly written. For me, only one thing detracted from the progression of the story, and that was the words, "I remember," written so many times it often broke the continuity and flow of the message.
I recognize the point of the story is to share what you remember, but I personally would only use it once for each paragraph as opposed to several times in a paragraph. (Just my opinion) Other than that, this is a well written piece, and I wish you the best in the contest.

I enjoyed reading your excellent post for the challenge. Your words are clear and easy to comprehend. You use vivid imagery descriptions that support your theme. This is very creative, thought provoking, and imaginative. One's personal expression and freedom to express is priceless. I understand that and agree.
Best wishes,
Alex

This is so heartfelt. I love how you share your journey. The struggles to finding your voice through writing. The courage you show in sharing such personal memories - especially about your father - is inspiring. It's clear that writing has not only helped you grow as a writer but also in healing. Your journey is a beautiful reminder that we all have stories worth telling.
I'm so glad you're sharing yours. Keep going - this is a gift to the world!

What a wonderful read, writing is a release for many, but to get that far in and find out it has given you some relief and understanding is so good to hear, it must have taken a lot of will power, very well written, best wishes for your contest****kahpot
