It sounds like things might be a bit more serious with this group, Dana will need to watch herself. You are building up the tension on that side of things well JIm, as well as the worry for Jules and Brian. Well done,
cheers

Thanks, valda. Yes, this group is a whole lot more experienced with intimidation than Newman-Price was. Fran and Dana will have their work cut out for them.

Since I've been unable to sit at my desk to read and review, you've got me checking out pain medicines and cancer treatments. LOL. It's surprising how much a person can learn in a short time. Yet, the more I've read the more complicated it's become. Many of the same chemotherapy treatments that started back in the the 1940s are still being used, but I'm glad I didn't stop there. There are well over 100 different chemo treatments covering six different categories. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter.

I hope you find the right medicine for what you have, Ric. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

A new non-addictive, non-opioid pain medication called Journavx was just approved by the FDA and will be available for sale at pharmacies in mid-March. It's for acute pain rather than for chronic pain and is supposed to work as well as the opioids, but uses the same mechanism of pain relief that the drugs Brian invented in the stories use--sodium channel blocking rather than opioid receptors.

Might be something to investigate if you're in pain. Google it for more info.

Thanks for your exceptional rating, Ric. Glad you're enjoying the story.

FYI: I've already begun thinking about my next novel which will be a third in this series and will deal with the invention of an early cancer detection system featuring Brian, Abby, some other old characters, and some new ones.

Pete Israel may be the key to busting this wide open. You have my attention with this guy as my mind is reeling. This is another fantastic installment, Jim. Everything about this seems realistic. This would make a great movie.
God bless,
Steve

Thanks, Steve. How about a mini-series including the first novel? Now that would be cool!

That would be so cool. I'd watch it!

It seems like it would be rather nerve wracking for Brian and Julia waiting for the other shoe to drop. And the problem could come from another drug manufacturer altogether, one Dana has nothing to do with.

Yep, there's always the possibility more than one will get involved, but maybe they are in communication with each other about things like this and will take turns. Who knows?

You'll see soon what Brian and Julia do to help the situation.

Jim,

This is a good story. It seems Dana has settled right into to her new role. Hopefully she can get some valuable info for the FBI. It's scary that there is a car watching Brian's place. Hopefully they will be okay.

Well done my friend

Cecilia

Thanks so much, Cecilia. Dana certainly relishes her new role, and you bet she'll get some good info for Fran.

That car is just the beginning of the intimidation. This last third of the story I hope will be quite exciting.

Hello Jim,
I like the dialogue, it's all quite believable. I think I would be a little bit cautious if I were Dana. Maybe it's just my suspicious nature, but to move from one big pharma company where a upper class member was indicted to another company might cause suspicion. It's kind of scary that they would send a car to Brian's house to try to intimidate him. I think I'd keep my gun handy at all times. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Thanks, Tom. Your suspicion is justified, and for sure Dana needs to be careful. She's really into it now and up for a little intrigue.

Good thought about keeping the gun handy. This is just the first step, and it will definitely intensify. Glad you enjoyed it.

They're a sneaky lot these Big Pharmaceutical company, that's the trouble with drug companies, I know some of these very expensive vitamin tablets they sell are pretty ineffective, but their publicity outlets are dealing with people looking for hope, and they can be easily conned, well done, blessings Roy

There never seems to be a shortage of snake oil salesmen. I can't tell you the number of remedies I've tried, promising to help with this or that, and got nothing out of them. But still we keep listening to the hype, which sounds so real and good. They are masters at that.

Yep, hope is always received, so there's always a market, even the news still keep with the miracle cures, but then one never hears from them again. Blessings Roy

A very smooth way to convey information via that catch-up phone call. Dana does seem to be an asset, and prhaps she is more aware now of the best way to proceed - at present, just let the other one talk. (Surprising she has a high-up position, privy to private info she gossips about, and it will be the undoing of Gideon). Well done. A fine chapter.

Thanks so much, Wendy. Yep, thank goodness for self-important blabbermouths. If you play them just right and flatter them, you can get a lot of useful information out of them.

That Dana is a great asset to the FBI and this project! I hope she gets all the information ahead of time and that they can keep Brian and Julia safe. It's good that Fran could give Julia a heads-up before anything happened!
I found it interesting and sad that "Retractions never carry the same weight as initial charges" and I liked how Brian was able to support the safety of his revised drug changes with other medicines that use the gene manipulation!

    Great comments, Helen.

Dana seems to love what she's doing now and putting her natural skills to good use. I wonder if the FBI would hire a new agent who's 58?

Fran didn't want to sugarcoat anything with Julia but also didn't want to frighten her unduly. A tough balancing act.

Using gene modification and gene therapy is becoming more and more common these days as a very useful technique against a number of conditions. Once people realize how useful and life-saving it can be for some things, the perceived ghoulishness of it should be mitigated to an extent.

I enjoyed the smooth, informative flow of this chapter through realistic dialogue. Fran was open and honest when Julia asked if they were in danger. Fran didn't know what to tell Julia except she hoped she would have advanced warning if anything was going to happen. I personally would have been terrified with that answer.

Dana is doing a good job developing a friendship with Leigh-Anne, who may eventually provide very valuable information.

Thanks very much, Lorraine. All that dialogue seemed to be the best way to inform the characters and the readers of events at the same time.

You're right; Fran didn't know exactly what to tell Julia, but she didn't want to sugarcoat things either, and yes, the friendship with Leigh-Anne will end up having proven to be very profitable.
