Garth is being forced to learn to wait until he can learn where Rebecca is? This is the second night isn't it? Will she survive another night trapped under that tree?

Good thing Travis reached his mom and now is safe in her care
The chapter was filled with emotions and high tension. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

It's funny to reconcile Garth needs the love and resourcefulness of acwomam, as we all need someone, he does too. And Althea loves her son, whom she suspected was lost to her, and she thinks even found he's lost, but I think they will heal the wound, well done, blessings Roy

You know me, Roy, somewhere, somehow, I'll find those happy endings...even if it's just in this author's dreams. Thank you so much for the review.

Now this will be an intense moment waiting to see if Travis pulls through. I love how you keep turning the tension up a notch here, Carol. First I was worried about Matthew now I'm worried about Travis. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I guess since my life has always been filled with tension, I carry it over into my stories. Putting the reader on the edge of their chairs and then miraculously making things all better. Don't we wish!

Love the ending of this chapter.
But I kept thinking is anyone loving on the dog, after all he just went through to bring Travis there??! I was saying "Go talk to the dog Garth, give him some pets! He knows more than you think!!" Then Allie appeared, and I was like 'oh, ok... that works too!' :)
Chapter 35 here I come...

The wolf dog will still have another spotlight performance in the book. He deserves it. And Allie was needed to put Garth's head on straight.

Carol, this so beautifully written. It is as if you've through yourself, and maybe you have. I can so identify with all the emotions which are on display in this intense chapter. I have no six, but I wish I did. Hugs, Ulla xxx

Thank you so much, Ulla. Yes, this chapter was a difficult one to write because Althea's emotiions came from within me. I based her reactions on how I reacted when they carried Michael from the water... I wanted it to grap the reader and to move them as it moved me.
    Thanks so much.

I can imagine how difficult it must have been. But it helps to get the emotions out, don't you think? xxx

Yes, it does. It's been many years, but when I allow myself to got back to that time, it seems like I am right there again.

Allie! Now THAT I was not expecting!
What a perfect, loving touch--and just
what Garth needed!

Excellent roiling emotion when Travis is carried into the house. Oh dear Lord what mother wouldn't react that way?

So much more to reveal! I must say, Carol, your writing is so engaging these chapters fly by quickly!

Thank you...I took Althea's reaction from my own when they found Michael... gut wrenching as they carried him up the hill toward me. I wanted to hold him so bad and it took four people to hold me back. Then at the coroner's I went numb... enough of that! I guess I do draw a lot of my reactions and characters from inside me.

Gasp. I didn't want to say it unless I was wrong, Carol. But that was exactly what I was thinking... Huge hugs my friend.

Thanks...I wasn't sure I could write it but something inside said it had to be real or I didn't want it in the scene. There's no way she would have been calm.
reply by karenina on 13-Feb-2025
Nope. I've never experienced that tragedy... and I honestly don't know if I would survive it.

You soon learn that you don't get a choice. I've lost two children, not counting a miscarriage and a grandson...life sucks and it doesn't stop for anyone

That much I know. We have no choice but to put one foot in front of the other and breathe...

An excellent description of Althea's panic at believing her son was dead, and also of Garth and his ongoing frustration at being unable to help either Travis or Rebecca, and not knowing what to do. It was good that Allie showed up - she's restored his calm, and is helping him to be patient, not impetuous or irrational.

Yes, Allie is his anchor... and she will always be in his heart and by his side. And Althea's panic is a emotion I've felt when they carried my son out of the water.... it's one you don't forget.

Another good chapter. The meeting between Garth and Allie was a nice surprise for Garth and for the reader. Your descriptions are so good; I feel like I'm in the room with Travis and the others. Good dialogue also. Blessings. Carol

Garth needed a little pep talk and who better than from Allie? Gives the reader a chance to take a deep breath too...especially because I think you ae going to need it soon.

There is nothing worse for Maria than seeing her child so sick and not being able to do anything, and the same for Garth. Loved that visit from Ally, to soothe Garth's worry over Rebecca. Great red,

Yes, he needed a little TLC and who better than Allie. And Althea was shaken to the core when she saw her son and thought he was dead. Heartbreaking.
