The long winter days used to get to me when I lived in southern Australia, but now in the north it is the overcast humid grey days that create the sads. Your poem shows it well and it really does affect some people badly. Nice one Cecilia.

Valda,
Thank you for the great review. Thankfully I don't suffer from SAD, but I know a lot of people do.

Sending rays of Caribbean sunshine your way.
I have experienced cold, but not full winter conditions.
The thought of snow and ice alone brings anxiety.

Thank you for the lovely review. Here in Texas our weather isn't too bad. Any where between Dec-Feb we get one winter episode. It can be snow or ice. It sucks.
I'm coming to the Caribbean with you.

Lol. I live a life of eternal sunshine. Once you don't mind heat and mosquitoes, it's bliss. I find temperatures are pretty moderate here.

You're a 7th Day Adventist aren't you?
Where do you live in the Caribbean?

I'm in beautiful Barbados.

You lucky girl. Did you tell me you were and Adventist?

Winter is difficult for those who suffer from S.A.D. There are special lamps that can be used to counteract some of the effects of it. You might try counting syllables in each line, as a way to start thinking of meter. It also has to do with where the accents fall in each word, but making words the same length is a good place to start. Blessings. Carol

Carol,
Thank you very much for the wonderful review. I appreciate the advice on the meter.

I meant to say 'making the LINES the same length,' not the words. Sorry!

Great poem! I can relate to this growing up in Indiana with long winter gray days and the sun doesn't shine for days at a time. Nice work! That is why I live in Florida today and the sun shines almost everyday lol! Keep up the great work!

Harry,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I grew up in Upstate NY and we had some long, dark days also. I live in Texas now and we have sunshine almost every day too.

Yes, it's a disorder that affects many people snd for some, it can be debilitating. Just a few more weeks and the symptoms will disappear with winter's greyness, as the sun gets brighter.

June,
Thank you for the wonderful review. Yes, it is a real thing. For those of with depression it really sends us for a loop if we don't get that sunshine.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm not a SAD person, but I do have to make myself sit out and get some sun on my face even when the temps are in the single digits!! I HATE the cold weather and do have to fight the gloomies, so this is a great one to bring attention to those who truly struggle with SAD... Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Thank you for the wonderful review. I appreciate it. I had one reviewer say, "Oh, that's what I have. I didn't know it had a name". I don't suffer from SAD either.

Thank you for highlighting this very real problem that many suffer from. We need to be aware of how it affects some people who we can be understanding when we're dealing with them. This is a good write and a good message.

They say that the winter can indeed change people's mood and make them miserable. The spring will soon be here Cecilia and the sun will wake up all your inner desires to bring a smile to your face. Love Dolly x x x

I feel your suffering. Your poem challenges the sad to happy with the arising of the sun.
Sunrise I'm patiently waiting for your to show your perfect view. A view that helps us all.
