I really enjoyed reading about Steven's journey through football and growing up! Your story paints a wonderful picture of him as both a big guy and a kind hearted marshmallow! I especially loved the humor - like when Steven skipped onto the field. It's clear that Steven's personality and your relationship with him shine through in your writing. I think it wraps up nicely. Keep up the great work!

Steven sounds like a wonderful person, you did well, mom. Good for you to raise children to be kind, intelligent, and independent. I like the nonfiction story. Well done.

Interesting insights into Steven. He was just born big. Great detail about his skipping to his position on the field. What a wonderful attitude he showed when he didn't do anything to the smaller boy that sneak-attacked him. Everyone at the new school was interested in him playing football. I like that he didn't want to be a tackling dummy. I don't think you need to bring in touches like "A few facts need to be explained." You explained them. I liked your snarky remark, Steven can write his name. Steven was, not is in eighth grade. You could eliminate "another quick note." Maybe combine his size with the next statement. judi

Thank you for the kind review. I will consider omit the comments. I felt they were needed, but probably not.

My youngest loved basketball. But he hated being in the high school team. He just wanted to enjoy the action and play. He wasn't competitive and that pissed his coaches off. I understand Steven completely. Great memory. Gretchen

My son is like your Steven in a couple of ways: not an aggressive bone in his body, and he's so tall that all his teenage years coaches bugged him to play basketball. He never did, and never even liked to watch the game until he was in his 30s.

Thanks for sharing some of Steven's story.

Stephen sounds like a lovely young man with a gentle and kind nature, but he was also quite insightful. I enjoyed reading this story of his times playing football.

Hello Barbara,
isn't it often the guys who could do the most harm that end up being the nicest guys on the field? It sounds like you raised some fine young men gal. It's a testimony to you and your husband. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Your post here just shows how much individuals have to fit in to the larger picture, and manipulate all their quirks and elements of their personality to accommodate the rules of the schools. Sometimes there has to be a lot of last minute crashing on the homework etc. estory

Is it normal in the American style football to punch the other players? I know they tackle like they do in rugby, but punching should not be allowed. It sounds like your son, although he was strong, he was not at all aggressive, which is a good thing, I enjoyed your story Barbara, love Dolly x x x

Punching isn't allowed. Steven was in a huddle. They were deciding on their next play. Thank you for the support.

Hi Barbara, this was an interesting continuation to your story. Now, growing up in Europe, I don't know much about football as it's not played over here. But I get the gist. Your son has what it takes but is a gentle soul. I liked it. Ulla xcx
