Travis bit his lip, tears welling in his eyes. He wanted to answer, but his throat felt filled with stones. All he could do was watch as the woman slumped back against the bars, and her tears streamed down her face as the reality of her situation settled over her.
Helluva commercial break cliff hanger. Onward.

Travis is there, and he knows Rebecca needs help! I couldn't help but think of the above biblical passage. Who knows what he can do to summon help? Maybe weary Eleanor can give him an idea.
Either way, it's good to know he's there and, so far, not spirited away forever.
Garth is on the trail and you've cleverly left clues along the path (torn cloth et al) --
I'm an optimist.
Rebecca will be saved -- but something tells me this is going to get messier before that happens!

For a young boy, Travis has been through a lot and seen more than he should ever see... I think he'll dig deep when the occasion rises and do whatever he can.

Unfortunately, Rebecca doesn't see on at the moment either. Especially when there are two seperate gangs hoping to take over the smuggling project... and the women are caught inbetween.

Yeah, it's not looking good for anyone who is in the tunnels...especially with not only the NY Mob hanging around but somewhere out there, Zhang has his men watching out for his interests too.

I'm not sure Garth will be able to get to her with all the mobsters hanging around and Zhang lurking out there somewhere...remember he wants that smuggling operation too.

Travis may be able to find Garth. Garth may notice her necklace or some shreds of her dress. Yet time is running out. The chapter is filled with vivid description and a compelling sense of urgency. Well written.

the clues are there but will Garth find them in time or will Travis be brave enough to try and help.... Or will the mobsters catch on to someone searching out the tunnels?
