I simply could NOT single out any less -- this is a wonderful poem!

"I loved my job and did it well.
Of helping folk I couldn't tire,
while never letting my head swell." -- a noble calling, and a saintly attitude!

"My kind employers wisely deemed
I'd earned my slippers by the fire." -- I loved this!

"Healthy, active, golden years
or crumbling, stumbling to death's door?" -- a fear I think we all share as there are more years behind us than in front...

"Whatever fate may lie ahead,
my focus falls on God's true love." -- exactly -- me too. :) Best of luck in the contest!

This is very nicely written for the contest and I wish you the very best in the contest. It does seem as we age our perspective changes quite a bit. We look more upward than we do horizontally. Patricia.

This poem has a stream -of-consciousness vibe as the poet reflects on the many stages of the life journey that we all go through- a vein of thanksgiving inspires the sentiments here- wish I had 6 remaining for this well written poem. Virtual 6!
