"Please, God," she whispered, her voice trembling with desperation. "Don't take him. Please let him live."
...kind of like what I said, but used "Carol" instead of God... ;D
I have a good feeling that he pulls through. but I'll say again.. .....Please Carol.....
!

INTENSE! It occurs to me that you are all too familiar with the hospital experience, what with Mike's history there. This was impressively accurate and you balanced the technical aspect of surgery with the personal anguish, fear and hopeful prayer many of us are familiar with.
As an RN I have to tease you, Carol. Only one sentence stood out as an "I wish that were true!" thought for me:
"Jenna's wild eyes scanned the sterile waiting room"
Oh, my Lord! Waiting rooms are generally cesspools of germs and chaos where one might come in with a cut and leave with Covid or worse.
(No biggie -- I just wish hospitals COULD make them sterile -- or even non-contagious!)
He's going to pull through. No, I don't know it but I'm with Danni -- he HAS to!

You got me! But I was thinking of inside the ICU area which tends to be cleaner, but now that I look at it...that's not where they were... So one strike against me. Easy fix...I either remove the word sterile or write the germ-infested waiting room..LOL I'm writing this review this very second because I am 300 behind after two days of answering...I feel like a jerk but I am going to send out blanket thank yous with my apoligies because I can't ever see me catching up.
Thanks as always...
Love ya, Carol

Great idea! Why didn't I suggest that?

You've shown the emotions of Jenna and Danni well in this chapter, Carol. Their despair and the hopelessness felt by loved ones in this situation comes across very real. Well done.

I guess I've been in their shoes numerous times and that helped to show their emotions too. Glad you could understand and feel their despair.

Unfortunately I've been in their shoes many times to, so I could feel their pain.

Jenna made it from home to the hospital, but only Danni's being there in the waiting room keeps her from losing it. When Danni sees Donatelli die and be brought back to life, even she has her doubts he will surprise.

I think everyone is wondering if he will make it through this one...especially with Zhang hoping to finish him off and we all know he's a ruthless man.

This is another excellent chapter. You have done a great job with your words to maintaining the level of tension. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

As you can see, this girl is far far behind on answering her reviews. I so appreciate the time you have taken to follow the story and your review.

Wow, you either had to do some serious searches or know a lot about the medical care of someone whose heart is trying to quit. I've been zapped twice, but never knew what the settings were. :-) Thanks for sharing.

I was with my husband several times and the hospital scene is engrained in my mind. He kept trying to escape...but I kept bringing him back (or so he said) lol. Thanks for reading this chapter, Ric. And I hope you never have to get zapped again.

I'm guessing Mike and I had some similarities. I don't like hospitals, and like hospital food even less. So, two days after surgery, I unhooked my IV, found an extra hospital gown to cover my backside, and walked to Arby's down the street. I didn't care about the people staring and laughing, I wanted some real food. Hugs, Ric.
-
He'd threatened it many times.... and I had to sneak food in or he probably would have done it. Yes, your similarities tickle me time after time.
Hugs, Carol

Just from things you've said, I figure him and I together might have been more than a handful of trouble. :-)

Oh yeah! I have no doubt!

Jenna has to keep the prayers going, and Matthew has to fight to stay alive. Now that two bad guys are gone, there are still troubling concerns for Eleanor as Miriam, Travis, and Rebecca are still missing, while Matthew lies dying in the hospital. Dear Carol, how will you ever fix this mess?

It would be much easier if this was a fairytale (a magic want sort of thing) but since it's mystery and crime, I guess I have to get into the trenches. LOL Thanks as always, Lorraine. I so appreciate you!

The rampage of deaths I hope it stops here and Matthew can pull through this ordeal. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings and of course with the next chapter.

I'm not going to feel too sorry for the dead guys because they were all bad ones, but Matthew I will try my darnest to keep him in the land of the living. I appreciate your thoughts, Iza. Thank you!

A very tense and dramatic chapter. It wouldn't have hurt the hard-hearted receptionist to try to find out some information for Jenna. Usually they could or would phone through to at least be able to reasssure an obviously distressed partner that he was still in surgery, and, for the present, holding on. Well written chapter.

When Mike was ill and we were in and out of the hospital so much, I came across a few that could have been army generals the way they acted. In a way I was lucky because we were there so often, my face was like a fixture. Thanks for the review and kindness.

I could really feel Jenna's pain and anguish in this scene. I could've shouted at the woman who wouldn't give her any information when she first arrived at the hospital. Another exceptional read, Carol.
