Hi
This is a well done diatelle about the sloth. Staying still for that long could be hard but it keeps him safe. It hard to see why his muscles don't atrophy. It is so romantic that he risks his life for love.
Good luck in the contest.

When the female is ready to mate, she produces a deafening screech
( D sharp) that can be heard from a great distance.
A male that hears it, excited, descends his tree and sets course to find her.
He will even swim across a stream or river ( oddly they are very good swimmers) to reach her.
On the ground, he is extremely vulnerable but the sex drive is overwhelming.
The only other time a sloth descends is to poop once a week at the foot of his tree. Many get killed while relieving themselves.

Hi
Thanks for all that information. What a way to die. Well maybe the once a week keeps them safer than once a day.

I wonder why they don’t just do it from above like monkeys etc do . 😅

Glad my wee poem put a smile on your face .. they are cute creatures , the slowest mammal in the world.
But they have the courage of a lion come mating time.
When the female is ready to mate it screeches loud ( D sharp) and the call covers a huge distance.
The male hears it and excited, descends its tree and goes to her .
He will cross streams and rivers too ( they are good swimmers )
Being on the ground is very dangerous for him , he doesn’t have speed or any way to defend himself.
