Unless the errors are egregious, I do not mention them. It is the story that is important, not the grammar, to me anyway. I finally got out my western. I did research and everything. Being snowed in made me really nest. In Houston we did not have snow. Here in Plano I have been trapped for four days. So, I finished " Hardly Quicksilver Jones". See what you think. Karen :-)

I can't wait to read. Thank you for the kind review. I go ahead an denote the errors I find because so people here self-publish and don't use an outside editor. We're their only editors.

Girl, EVERYTHING was different in 1991! lol
My boy, Currie, was a football player, too. Some of my very best memories are sitting in those stands, shivering from cold, jumping up to yell and cheer, and pride pursuing through my eyes in the form of tears. He played Team Handball for the US National Team Handball Team for about 5 years but, like your Andrew, finally decided enough was enough. Your kid was smarter - Currie was 33 and 3 surgeries in before he gave up his sport.
I enjoyed this read, Barbara! I might suggest you put some of the 'mother notes' in your author note section but it would be a personal choice, not a must have improvement. :)
Blessings, my friend,
Deb
PS - You have a published book, correct? I'm learning some new marketing software and am looking for Guinna pigs. I'd make you a video ad that you can or don't have to use. It would be free for you, as a friend (and lab rat!). Just let me know if you're interested.

Okay... GREAT! Can you send me a synopsis of the book, the book cover, where to buy, etc? Send that to my email, debsfiction2@yahoo.com, and give me a few days. I'll try to have it done by Monday next week. :)

Give me a couple of days to get thing together.

Hi Barbara, it sounds like you had your hands full with all those boys and their football careers. I liked how you humanized the game, showing real emotion and the sacrifice of time sitting on the bleachers to support your sons. It must have been hard on all of you during those times, especially when a deployment was involved. Thanks for sharing.

I understand how you miss watching your children playing football. With me, it's basketball. All three of my younger ones played basketball from 5 through high school. Beautifully written. Gretchen

All my boys played basketball when they were younger. In high school Jeff did football and wrestling. Thank you for the kind review.

This story is a beautiful and heartfelt reflection on the journey of Andrew, highlighting not just his love for football but the deep-rooted family values, resilience, and quiet strength that shaped him. It's filled with warmth, humor, and those small yet profound moments that define a family's legacy.

Good one, Barb. I hated the duck walk also but it was required to pass the test. My knees and legs were sore for a week. I thank you did well with your boys. So glad they have done well. Out of six.

Hello Barbara,
you had a lot more dedication than I did. Both my boys wrestled, but I didn't attend all of their matches. I used to watch the girls play basketball. It was a lot more exciting. I was never into sports growing up. I always wanted to be outside fishing. Sounds like your son is still really active. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Tom

Yes, Andrew remains very active. Jeff, played football and also wrestled. He's the only son who did. The others played basketball.
Thank you for the kind review.

I would think you would have sat through each game praying your son wasn't hurt. None of our kids have played football and I'm relieved. But you did have the joy of seeing them do something they loved to do.

I was surprisingly entranced the whole time reading this. I don't read much other than poems because I'm not that into fiction. But this...I loved it. I didn't notice any errors because I was on a different plane enjoying a peek into football life. Well done and very interesting with all the details:)

This was an interesting and engaging post to read about your sons enjoyment of football. I can imagine that you must've felt proud watching him play. A well written piece, Barbara, I enjoyed reading it.
