Love the picture used for this poem. There is so much one can see in her eyes and the expression on her face.
The poem is an easy read with an excellent flow and pace.
Thank you for sharing.

Grief seems to be galloping through our family. We lost our sweet granddaughter about 15 months ago, and it is a bitter pill to swallow. This is a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

This is a powerful entry for the emotions contest, Tom. A personal one for you too. I'm sorry for your friend's loss. A hard road I've walked many times, but never alone. Sending along my very best and my good wishes for the contest.

Powerful and raw. I understand how deep the hole can be. This brought tears as I am having a hard time with my brother's sudden death three months ago. He was the rock I could stand on, the shoulder I could cry on when the going got too tough.
To me your words brought understanding to my grief.

A deep conveyance, thinking myself rather than bothering the higher to assist: assist me in their cause. Help the efforts of Jesus, given by the Holy Text. Do the impossible in hell: believe in God.

This is a very moving poem, Tom.
I hope his granddaughter manages to come to terms with this sad loss so she can move on with her life. My condolences to the family.
One note Release me, Lord
to be restore - Is there a 'd' missing from the end of restore?

Death is an emotion that is hard to control when it's someone you dearly love. You go through so many emotions, sorry, anger, and more before you reach the acceptance and can go forward. This is a really good contest entry, a deep wound that needs God to help move through it. Well done and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Thank you and welcome to my bizarre and sometime controversial corner of the written word. My profile describes me accurately. I am glad you enjoyed this peace. as for dad, his struggled has ended. He has eithr found peace, or there is nothing beyond the grave. We'll only know when we pass on.

Loss and grief go hand in hand. Never easy and praying can be some relief. Takes time. Thanks for sharing this contest entry. Take care and have a wonderful day and a Happy New Year.

Thank you. As the Lord said when He gave up the ghost, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!" He is now at rest.

The grief never ends. I love the lines that ask when will it end, it all depends on the depth of the hole and who is in control. This asks the famous question of all of us who are in control when our id is really the one who knows and it shows by our actions instead of our words.
The picture of a granddaughter who is mourning her grandfather is precious and pure emotional respite.

Hi Tom,
sorrow has a way of robbing us of peace. It's something that each person has to deal with in their own way, and sometimes it takes quite awhile to heal. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Tom

The week began hard when the missus entered to feed her dad, but peace arrived as the week moved forward. He is now at rest, and the family has found a way to revel in his life, moving past his death.
