I'm not very knowledgeable on these things, but I do believe that our Lord created Adam and Eve to be a team and to show those in the future that we were to work together as equals for the good of all. Unfortunately, that set plan did not go as we wanted, and we have faced a world of strife... worlds fighting against each other instead of in unison. I pray that we can find our way back to the eyes and good graces of the Lord before this world succumbs. Very well written, and I wish you luck with your master's. (Actually, it's very hard work, not luck).

Thank you, Carol. I appreciate your thoughts, and yes, it's very hard work, not luck. I hope for your dream, too, that we can all work together to find our way to God's will for the world.

Regardless of Eve's choice, men cannot have fathers without a woman who becomes a mother. Wives are to be side by side with her spouse, no inequality outstanding.

Your piece is thoughtful. I admire how it challenges deeply ingrained beliefs with such clarity. The way you highlight Jesus' actions as a counter to patriarchal structures is interesting. Especially in your focus on his first appearance to Mary Magdalene. The personal examples and historical references added to your thoughts. I felt encouraged by the hope you shared for a more equitable world. This is such a thought provoking work!

Great research and thought.
The Forbidden Fruit - This section seemed a bit distracting from the main topic of patriarchy, maybe a bit too voluminous. (but only a bit)
I think you hit on it when you stated that pride was a major influence of the continuation of patriarchy. I think that in most instances it's nothing more than size and strength as to who gets the final say.
Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Your words and commentary are very profound. I was never a deep believer or follower of the Bible, to my dismay, life has still been fruitful and honorable. Haven't there been beliefs where the mother is the prime parent, the source of life. One is born of the mother, and infants first experience of life is the mother. The Mother Earth, The Mother Heavens, and the Goddess Nut who is spoke of as the whole heavenly sphere. Man in his weakness had to subdue women to feel more important and powerful than women.Created as equals, we all need to protect and defend each other. My parents, my God says all women deserve your respect, give it with all your faith and living as a father to give not to take.

Well, there was certainly a lot of back and forthing in what they believed and it seems to me in God's decisions, too, or so the scribes would have us believe.
Who do you teach, mainly?
Since God created the workings of the mind in men and women, the men being more one-track minded; the women multi tasking, thinking many things simultaneously, and men are aware of this, it is ludicrous that men, as a whole, think they are smarter. However, I do think men who are bigger, stronger, and feel a certain protectiveness toward women is a very nice thing :)

Hi Katherine,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that we all have strengths and weaknesses. If we all work together, we can accomplish much more than if one usurps authority over another.
I don't teach. I wrote this for an assignment for my Gender and Text class at SNHU, where I am studying for my master's degree. So many feminist writings denounce God, and this inspired me to investigate God's take on the issue of patriarchy.
