I like your examination of the possible symbolism behind these lyrics. I think you have taken a really positive and healthy spin on them, and as you say, it's a good outlook to have later in life when circumstances can easily get you down.

Probably one would need to speak to whoever wrote these lyrics for America to find what they intended as the meaning. I'm suspicious that it could be a drug reference as the lyrics perfectly mirror Simon and Garfunkel's song about heroin, Bridge over troubled Water:
When you're weary
Feeling small ...
And friends just can't be found ....
Sail on, silver girl, sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

But that didn't stop the song from being the number one wedding song for a generation. That's the great thing about symbols. They have fluidity and flexibility depending on who is receiving them.

Just a few typos:

"This *if* for all the lonely people *thinking'* that life has passed them by.
(is, thinking w/no apostrophe)

and it made an impression ** resonates in my head even now, three *dats* later.'
(Missing word? ...impression that resonates..., days)

Thank you for sharing this uplifting entry. I really enjoyed it!

This is an excellent non fiction topic and presentation. My own father passes away in his 100th year and my mom's sister at 104 yo. We don't have expiration dates so we much embrace life while we are alive. Best wishes, Alex
