I can relate your humor when it becomes real in our bodies. I like the title and how you have a friend who encouraged you to write and to share your journey of aches in a poem so fitting for life. Keep writing and sharing your gift!

Darlene,
Thank you so much for a wonderful review. My friend Nicki B is a great poet on here also. Much better than I. I am still a rookie though.
One day I said something about my check engine light and she said you should write a poem. So I did. It was fun writing.

Yes ma'am I will do. My muse was on vacation for a few weeks. I now have her chained to the desk. Ha, ha

Cute, cute, cute. And what a title and a reoccurring line. It is perfect for us who seem to be aging faster than we should be. However, I have always told my grandkids that when I grow up I want to be just like them. Thanks for a delightful poem and this would have been a fun one to do together. You made it your own and made it fun. Thanks for the laugh at ourselves. Love, Debi

Good title and great images of the aging body. We sure do see the check engine light flashing more often these days. I spent the day scrubbing woodwork and a filthy oven in a rental we are hoping to sell and just about every part is blinking a red light. Have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful new year.

I like that - the check engine light came on at fifty and only gets worse. I've not heard that saying before, but looking back a ways, I think it's probably about right. LOL
Enjoyable read, Cecilia.
Cheers

Thank you for the wonderful review. My muse finally showed up, so I have her chained to the desk so she can't leave again.
Love you,

Ahh, another great story. So you write poems too, with a dash of comedy.
Seems like we have a lot in common, but a lot of differences too... I'm 67 and the warranty on my parts has expired too.

Very clever. I've never heard it before "my engine light came on".
As someone once said, "Aging isn't for the feint of heart". (I couldn't find who coined the phrase.)
Best wishes.

A shout out to Nikki B. who saw a great theme for a poem and encouraged
you to go for it! I laughed so hard! I'm (don't tell a soul, she said on a writer's site with eleventy-million members, give or take) --but I am SEVENTY-ONE! I'm quite sure my "Check Engine Light" is not only on, but blinking bright red and maybe even with a little emergency siren...
(sigh)
I loved every line here, Cecilia. I don't know how any of us got to be over sixty. Clearly there was some time warp (don't you agree?)--
BUT-- if we're going to start needing excessive maintenance, let's do it with a smile, which your great poem provides!
(BTW? From here, sixty-one sounds like a teenager, so enjoy it while you can!)
Merry Christmas Week!

Karenina,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I'm glad I could make you smile and have a little laugh. If I'm a teenager I surely don't feel like it. Ha, Ha.
Have a great evening my friend.
