I missed this one, Chuck, I've been taking time off reading and writing while my eyes are in such a state. Graham has now bought me a special magnifying glass to help me read. I'll be so glad when they finally get rid of my cataracts.
This chapter explained a lot about the pros and cons of the weather, and how it can help or destroy the farmers. It is the one thing that no one can control, unfortunately. Well done, my friend.
I hope you had a marvelous Christmas and I wish you and your family a happy, healthy 2025. Lots of love, my friend. Sandy. xxx

An excellent chapter, Ben. It reads smoothly from beginning to end. You give us a good idea of what was going on in this area at the time. I can't imagine getting 1200 acres for free, as well as getting 2,000 cattle in 4 cattle pens.
You also give a good background of the area, and what was able to be grown, as well as what needed to be cleared out.
They say that history repeats itself, and it certainly did during these times with layoffs, and weather will always be a problem somewhere. I guess the brothers made the decision of who would be laid off very easy. Very well done. Have a wonderful holiday season.

I really enjoyed reading this story. This man depending on the Lord has helped him lead and bless his community throughout the years. When I was little, we had four big Chinaberry trees in our backyard I had a swing in one of them. The tornado took them when I was ten. I'm sorry I've not been getting to your work. I have shingles and they have done a number on me. Hopefully I'll feel better soon.

It's always entertaining to read about places, times, and people, in a different era. To realize their hardships and struggles, and see the changes that have taken place over the year. Thanks for sharing.

Your chapter feels so real. I loved how you included small details about the land. The decision about the deputies added a nice touch. The mix of history and fiction works beautifully here. It's clear you're passionate about getting the "real thing" across. Keep it going - I can't wait to see what happens next!

Michael, I have spent a lifetime writing about the west, lived among the NAVAJO Indians, I know the terrain well. Published several and love writing about subjects I know something about. I do not direty the readers' mind with slang or vagular ideas as some authors do. Perhaps I have missed millions for staying the course I have taken fifty years ago but my mind and knowing your mind has nothing of ugliness in your mind.
