All of the detailed descriptions, realistic dialogue, and honest heartfelt emotions is what made this story work. I could envision the scenes and relate to your conversation with Brian. You let us, the readers, know exactly what a day in the life of a police officer is like. I appreciate your dedicated service helping and protecting the community. I wish you the best in the contest.

Thank you so much for the very kind review.

Forty four years later and I can still see everything as it was only yesterday. This is a good memory, unfortunately, the bad ones are still there .

I became a police officer because my neighbor was one. He was a great husband, father and a good man. I wanted to be just like him.

I'm still one of those who think that most police officers choose their profession because they want to help people and get service to their communities. It's stories like this that reassure my confidence in law enforcement. Thanks for sharing.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This was a great story with a happy ending, and it is a dangerous career you chose, I thank all police officers for their services and the help they give our communities.

It is hell getting old. I thought I replied to your review, but I cannot find it. I thank you for the six stars. That means the world to me. It means you enjoyed it. Police love giving each other crap. This one was no different. Before each shift we have roll call. The shift lieutenant or sergeants gave us the latest information and our assignments. If you did something funny, you would hear it for days. In this case, Gino just wanted to have some fun at my expense.
I am a talker and everyone on the shift knew that. Well Gino before the roll call brought up the attempted suicide only, he added one imaginary detail. He said that as we were loading Brian into the ambulance. He kept saying, "Thank God it is all over. I thought that cop would never shut up."
Naturally, everyone in the room broke out laughing. After several minutes of laughing. Gino said he was just kidding. I got even with him a few weeks later. You might think that was not right. It was just our ways of making the job less stressful.
Thank you again for reading and reviewing my story and the 6 star.

Thanks for sharing, Richard. Your story goes to the heart of what police officers do. They're on the front lines just as much as combat soldiers are, and they don't get near the credit they deserve, particularly in domestic violence cases. Your writing skills were again highlighted in that once I started reading I couldn't stop. Well done, my friend. Keep writing.

Richard,

What a wonderful story. You kept your head on and emotions in check and did your job. I'm sure you handled 100's of these types of calls.

Welcome back my friend it's been a minute since you been on here. This is actually one of the stories you sent me and I enjoyed it then. I'm bad with correspondence. I still need to read the one on your grandfather. The holidays are a crazy time and leave time only to sleep.

Well done my friend

Cecilia

    Hello,

So good to be back. We were in California for several weeks, spending time with our kids and grandkids. Holidays, as you said, are busy. It is that way here.

I wrote this story quicker than I should have. The contest deadline is in three days. I will pass if I do not have enough time in the future. I could have written this better.

I am meeting Gino next week for breakfast. I know he still remembers that night.

Unfortunately, I will have to limit my story writing until after the first of the year.

Thank you for the very kind words on this story. They are appreciated.

    Enjoy the holidays.
