Ciao Harambe!

I always thought the late Queen hung into the crown because deep down she felt Charles didn't have the backbone of a king.

I remember I read when in my teens an article about him : his butler would prepare his toothbrush with the toothpaste. Wth

To me he was an able public relations person managed to act a clown on many occasions but not material for the throne.

Apparently he played the piano and trumpet also.

Personally I don't think he should have married Camilla.

And for Harry not being his son .. you got to be kidding .. Harry has close set yes exactly like Charles .. the older he gets the more you can see he is the spitting image of Charles.

William has their mother's features.

And yes I think the English secret service had her killed.

Thanks Tempeste! This is the first time I have heard of that theory with the secret service. I always thought it was the paparazzi. 🦍

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. It is filled with alliteration. If I'm not mistaken King Charles was named in some of the Epstein Island issues. Good luck with the contest.

I haven't heard that, but if he spends time with his brother, that would not be very surprising! 🦍

Well, I really didn't know he played the cello. That's quite an old pic in your royal collection:) I really enjoyed this fun and satirical take on our king and your 'p' and 'c' alliteration. Political correction perhaps? But a nice take on Mind your Manners (ps and qs). Sadly, all very British hypocrisy! A cheerful cacophony of cello plucking performance and cavalier coupling. Well done, Simian, and good luck! A strong contender! Debbie

Thanks very much Debbie! You definitely picked up on the subtle humor. None of my entries will ever win one of these official site contests but that's ok as I had fun writing it : )

Wow! this is different and I am going to say it would be quite difficult to do, as your whole poem stars each line with two interchanging letters, very clever, and you have made it work, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

Thanks Kahpot, yes this experimental form was a fun little challenge for sure and hopefully I'll find another opportunity to use this form again! 🦍

Poor Charles waited SO long to be king, and it doesn't look like he'll be there long.
Does this format of flipping the letters back and forth have a name (other than free form)? It seriously handcuffs your choices, but you made it work.
I think it was a little more flattering to Charles than he deserves, but artistically speaking you have created something unique!

Thanks Julie! I figured I could give Charles a break for what was perhaps one of his few redeeming qualities. On the format, I just made it up, for the occasion of his coronation. I suppose it could be called a poly alternating alliteration, or something like that maybe? I have not tried it out beyond this one piece, like 2D acrostics. Maybe if I'm able to come up with more of them, I'll host some sort of contest with that format down the road. IDK how long Charles will be king, but definitely a lot less shorter than his mom was. 🦍
